Prime Anderson Silva would never have lost to Jan Blachowicz

in all of those losses he was clearly the superior fighter and was mauling Chonan. He got caught in submissions. Anyone can lose

Israel was not the superior fighter. He didn't just get caught. He was just outclassed everywhere by a 39 year old gatekeeper
A champion is a gatekeeper ?

Hell no. Mediocre Silva would catch Jan let alone prime.

Big Silva fan, Izzy is more technical but even more counter heavy than Silva imo so sometimes he’s just going to have those lacking performances and then look amazing when someone plays his game, we saw this from Silva too just not as much

Big difference imo is Silva is absolutely legit off his back and has a nasty guard game. He can get up from those spots too. Izzy just kinda lays in guard and hopes to stand up or tries to power out athletically. Jan shut that down used his size and it was done

The last few days have been absolute hell for these Silva vs Izzy threads. Jesus Christ.
Welcome too 2021 Sherdog where we talk about how great the UFC was specifically between the years of 2002-2014 but also how StrikeForce and PRIDE were better in every way.

Silva fans are terrible hahaha

They get their panties twisted every time Izzy fights. Hey you guys had your time, remember when Franklin had a career and Silva took it away?? Well thats what Weidman did to your boy.

And now its Izzy's chance to shine. Got to get over it,boys

Looking back at the fight, I can't believe Adesanya had no answer for Jan's rudimentary and basic if not at times sloppy offensive attacks. This supposed "world class level striker" had no answer for it at all, got outstruck every round and had zero answers when he got put on his back. It shows how overrated he is and that he's feasting on crude strikers and guys who can't level-change or wrestle.

it shows that power and size makes up for lack of technique in some cases. Izzy should have fought him different and won. But he didn’t and yans size and power were to much . No big deal. SiZe matters in these sports.

a guy with 13 fights under him is not in his prime, sad that even has to be said

Yeah, 10-0 Chris Weidman was such a noob when he beat Silva, if only he would have waited a couple more fights to get some experience for his title shot he coulda been somebody

Didn't matter for Anderson. A shitty offense was a shitty offense to him, he made short work of it LHW or MW.

Adesanya has fought higher up for years as well so he has even less of an excuse. He just isn't as good as the true greats.

Unlike your opinion laden post. Anderoid was in his physical prime and allowed to dope in pride. He got the snot beaten out of him and was subbed by flying shit. His only wins in pride are over ufc fighters. Izzy didn’t get his ass handed to him in Japanese mma repeatedly.

You're even more idiotic here than in the war room.

A champion is a gatekeeper ?

I wouldn't call him a gatekeeper myself but his position as champion is pretty weak as the four top ranked guys left the division and made way for him. Even though some left a few years ago the division the division still doesn't feel like it has compensated for that loss. Jan did lose to one of them and the guys he never got into position to fight seem at least as likely to beat him, probably more so.

You can't even use "size" as excuse to lose the striking in the first 3 rounds against Jan. Israel had the reach, height, speed and experience advantage in the standup and lost there.

Jan can get away with being sloppy because he has KO power in both hands. Chuck and Wanderlei weren’t the cleanest strikers either but they got the job done their way

Izzy does have superior TDD, partly due to his long frame and reach but that doesn’t explain everything. Silva was the better finisher and more diverse striker by far.
