It was already the trans day of visibility. It has been for 15 years. It had been recognized by the WH on March 31st for the past three years as well.

I think what it is is that I'm reasonable and not partisan, and that's precisely the problem. Like, is there any rational explanation for why hating trans people would cause you to support tax cuts for the rich and cuts to Medicare/Medicaid/Social Security? No. But Republican strategists know that there is a very small amount of actual support for their policies, but they can generate rage on social media that gets people who don't really follow policy to support them.

I think its fine to be bothered by the pandering from the progressive left and on certain matters like transgenders in sports there are reasonable disagreements to be had and I would even side with right wingers on some of them.

But surely you can see that this issue gets an insane amount of disproportionate attention right? What % of the population is really affected by all this? I don't know a single transgender person. This gets framed as trying to protect kids but two of the leading causes of deaths in children over 1 are car accidents and firearms and yet if you try to do anything about either you get pushback from predominantly right leaning constituencies.

If we're taking an honest look at the two political parties in America its the right wing one that has completely lost its mind. The GOP is subordinated to Trump's whims and he has no respect for America's norms. Most of the GOP believes the last election was fraudulent and that's not an accident, that belief was created and propagated by the leader of the party. Setting aside all the other disastrous things about his presidency, that alone is so insane and corrosive to the country that something like an MtF student winning a wrestling tournament or changing clothes in the women's changing room pales in comparison.
