carrick is expected to coach the u23 while having a diminshed role in the first team, he is still good and i think he had games where he was a big influence for united this year.

Fair enough.

Was never a massive fan of him, even in his prime. Good servant, solid player, but more Nicky Butt than Roy Keane.

Yeah, it's a tricky question. No doubt Spurs looked like a better side this season, but do think their fans would agree? I think they'd take the trophies in a heart beat.

I mean it's Spurs, bottling is in their DNA but Poch has gotten them 3rd and 2nd in consectuive years + they got the most points in club history this year. They hadn't finished top 3 since the very late 80's ffs lol. Not like he has spent loads compared with the other clubs either (plus has developed 4 very good English players.)

As has been said they really need to improve in Europe though, not nearly good enough this year.

and since United won the Europa league our UEFA coefficient is higher so that means we're in pot two. if united finished fourth they would ahve been in pot three, lmao. that works out great because no united can avoid being in a real killer group

Seeded (confirmed): Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Benfica, Chelsea, Shakhtar Donetsk, Monaco, Spartak Moscow

Pot 2 (provisional): Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla*, Man City, FC Porto, Man United

Pot 3 (provisional): Napoli*, Tottenham, FC Basel, Dynamo Kiev*, Ajax*, Olympiakos*, Anderlecht, Liverpool*

Pot 4: All other qualifying clubs, which could include Roma*, RB Leipzig, Celtic*, Nice* and Feyenoord

roy keane's of the world dont really exist much in todays game. carrick was sooo smooth and really really good, very undervalued. arguably most misused player for England since scholes.

I'll do a 6 year AV bet that Manchester United wins the Premier league next year.

oh dear lmao

Spurs/Pool (if they qualify) gonna get REKT

Boot Smalling, Young, Carrick, Rooney, Januzaj and Zlatan.

You prefer giving Jones another chance over Smalling? It's an interesting one really, seems to divide opinion.

Agreed on Young, Rooney & Carrick. Young can still be a decent squad option but would prefer those potential minutes going to younger players. Completely forgot about Januzaj lol.

Would you keep Zlatan if we restuctured his wage?

would you rather be in champions league and win zero trophies
or be in champions league and win multiple trophies?

winning EFL and Europa league are both great, but United shouldn't ever be in Europa league. United were really dire at times this season, but won trophies which is what the club sets out to do every season regardless of the competition. injuries obviously didn't help but every team has injuries, so its not an excuse - i think jose did a good job this seaosn, obviously winning europa league justifies that. hopefully his approach to martial will work, bc he is obviously very talented.

will be an interesting summer with arrivals/departures.
I agree. Maybe I'm wrong here, but it seemed the general consensus around here was that United had or was having a really poor season. By Fergie Era standards, it was subpar; but in comparison to all other Prem teams not named Chelsea, it was a pretty successful successful year.

Januzaj/Varela is for sure being sold. I would imagine Smalling/Jones (one or the other, if not both) are on their way out, Young probably too. Will be interesting to see if Rooney stays, and if Jose decides to sell Luke Shaw.

Would love to see United bring in top class forwards, obviously Griezmann (good German name) will be heavily linked. Midfield definitely needs addressing, and one two centerbacks with the injury to Rojo. Would imagine United will buy Michael Keane back, because he is academy/English which is important going forward and he is good enough now probably and hopefully will improve under Jose. I would bring Zlatan back if he wants to come back, but at a lower wage bc Martial/Rashford are going to be needing more game time.

Going to be an interesting summer.

the style of play this season was a complete 180 of Ferguson-era. well, outside of Euro games.

Even though he didn't play Zlatan is dominating the Europa final pictures.

Always liked Jones.......feel if he can stay injury free, he can be really good. At 25, he should be approaching his prime.

My problem with Zlatan is the opportunity cost of having him. If having him means Rashford and Martial get held back and stops us signing a Griezeman-esque player, I'd prefer to get rid.

If we used him like we used aging Carrick, Giggs, Scholes etc, I'd be fine, but that is not going to happen.

I go against the grain here and keep Zlatan if the wage is restructured, so long as Jose isn't making him the first name down on every team sheet. Having him as an option come February/March when he starts getting healthy again could really benefit the squad, especially given the injuries the team has had over the past few seasons.

Normally, I'd think Zlatan would balk at the idea, but his options are going to be pretty limited--probably MLS or sticking with United.

NF comes back and we get glorious football discussion

what a lad
