Had to remove two broken fence posts with a jack like this on Saturday. It's not as easy as youtubers made it look. I snapped 2 chains and two 4" by 4" . I'm sooo sore.

It's a 4ft farm jack connected to the remains of a broken fence post anchored in concrete with a chain.
At least you didn't hurt yourself. Fortunately I never had to do that by hand, I would pull them out with a dumper:

Of course you could use a car if it's somewhere a car can approach.
You probably already know this but you can also get a fence post puller:

It's the same idea as what you were doing, just it's made for that job and won't break.
