Futbol Premier League 2025/26 Thread - v1 - And it’s Live! 🏆 ⚽️

Needed that. Hopefully it leads to sustainable momentum

Top half of the table, 1 point shy of European return.

Looking at the next 3 fixtures (Brighton (h), Forest (a), Spurs (a)) and I was getting a bit giddy, thinking not a bad run, if we can get 7 points we’ll be right in the mix.

Then read in the 3 corresponding fixtures in the last 2 seasons we’ve won exactly 0 points.

Graham Potter new Sweden coach!! Read all about it somewhere

Saw that. A bit random.

Honestly think the manager’s influence in club football tends to be overinflated. Obviously not irrelevant, but the players/recruitment is far more key, imo.

In International football, even more so.

See messrs Southgate and Deschamps.

@Deffid Maultaschen mit Kartoffelsalat hhmmm maybe @650lb Sumo is familiar with that too? Some traditional dish here down in the South. It's some sort of meat filled dumpling usually served with some smashed potato salad 🐊🍽️
Ich habe sie nie probiert. But they seem to be basically the same thing as pyelmyeni / varyeniki, which are popular in the former USSR. You can have them with meat, cabbage, potato, cherry filling etc. and I would always have lots of saure Sahne. 👍

I did get some 🇩🇪 products a while ago though, what do you think, any good?

Kartoffelknödel
Rostbratwurst (Thüringer)
Rindergulasch in herzhafter Soße mit Nudeln und Apfelrotkoh

Fucking shocked by yesterday - a solid performance and a win at Anfield, madness. Chuffed for Mbeumo getting another goal, Cunha grew into the game well too. The Scum are really struggling - Isak and Wirtz, 250m of new signings, invisible. Full-backs looked like dogshit, 100m right there.

Slot is starting to sound panicked as well, hopefully this downswing continues!

Looking at our next fixtures though I fully expect our inconsistency to continue.

Big Ange goners again, hahahah. Imagine being a Forest fan, so much positivity last season and within a couple of months you're being dragged through a relegation battle by Sean fucking Dyche!

If I'm United I'm throwing 50m at Elliot Anderson in January.

But where will Ange go?
Interesting question. Small club in a big league on the continent? Big club somewhere like Greece or Poland? USA? Saudi Arabia? Back to the Pacific Rim? In order of preference. I don't think we'll see him on these islands again.

I did find an amusing article, pretty long for sports journalism, doing its best to defend him by a freelance Australian journalist writing for Fox Sports Australia. He blames everything on Marinakis and prejudice against Australians lol. Wonder how much he got paid for it.

Throughout his managerial career, Ange Postecoglou has often spoken about the disrespect Australians receive when trying to make their way overseas in football.

Postecoglou has said repeatedly over the years that Australians, whether they are players or managers, start several steps behind everyone else in the race to reach the top of the footballing pyramid.

For Australia has a rich football history, but it is regularly ignored beyond our shores.

The disregard for Australia as a footballing nation makes the journey to the upper echelons all the more difficult for ambitious men and women from down under.

The former Celtic and Socceroos manager has been routinely ridiculed and mocked since he arrived in the Premier League at Spurs a little more than two years ago.

Questioning what a Greek-born Australian would know about football, and belittling his achievements in Scotland, Japan and his home country, is usually the behaviour of fans with a belly full of beer in pubs.

But throughout Postecoglou’s time in England, such sentiments were displayed among some past players and others in the press pack.

Australia has an issue with tally poppy syndrome, but it must have been brought to our shores on the first fleet as the more Postecoglou spoke with conviction of his belief that he can deliver success, as he had done around the globe, the more eager to cut him down they appeared.

Postecoglou’s Melbourne Victory protege Kevin Muscat had been linked with taking on the Rangers job in Scotland after the hostile exit of Russell Martin.

Muscat, who has enjoyed success as a manager in China, Japan and Australia, may have dodged a bullet as talks reportedly broke down.

“What it’ll do is make all Australian coaches say, listen, you need to be really careful as to the situation you’re stepping into and the owner that you’re gonna be working under,” Australian football commentator Craig Foster told Nine’s Wide World of Sports.

“You know, Ange made that choice; he knew the risk, and unfortunately, what I would say is a stupid decision, but a very predictable one has been made.”

Definitely looking like they were lucky to somehow get career seasons out of Salah and van Lesbian last season.

Both were very poor yesterday.

Can see why Liverpool were reluctant to give both new long term deals. You never know when they’re gonna snap.

Can’t really drop VvD, but you definitely can with Salah. Even Frimpong looked levels above him in the forward right position.

Similar to United and Bruno, tbh. Though he did save himself a 4/10 with that late assist.

On paper the next 10 games or so are pretty favourable. Probably gonna be season defining for us.

Still the hope of 4th still the possibility of 14th.

Rangers!

Guess the guy might be well suited to a non elite International job actually.

All he needs to do is point the players in the right direction and say go.
