Reality is Foden, Bellingham, Palmer should all really be competing for one place.

European qualifiers are a joke and England haven't gotten challenged but... they're bulldozing small teams the way they should.

Depth in the attack is amazing. Palmer, Bellingham, Gibbs-White, Rogers, Foden, Rashford, Saka, Bowen, Eze, Gordon, all competing for about 2-3 spots is just nuts.

Might be some exclusives for their "2nd tier" teams. Real, Bayern, Liverpool, Juve, Arsenal and even ManU still their "elite" clubs.

Yeah.

Honestly, even the WC tournament is basically a lottery between (at most) 10 teams. Play it 5 times you might well get 5 different winners.

Then the 9 teams that don't win spend months asking what went wrong. Will be "we shoulda played 433!" or "we needed to play Grealish instead of Bellingham" etc etc.

It's not that deep.....you didn't get lucky at the right time, you lost a penalty shoot out or your players were knackered.

Can be great fun, don't get me wrong, but the standard is way worse than the top club competitions.
 
Match Report

I went to Whitby Town vs Hednesford Town yesterday evening. The attendance was 394. I knew we had a surprisingly good result last time out, away, but to be honest I wasn't convinced we'd actually improved by that much and didn't expect much from this game. However after kick-off it was immediately apparent that the team had done a lot of work on forward plays, the aggressive midfield and supplying the final pass. We immediately were pushing up and making more informed passing choices and runs, but also not rushing, we held possession and reset where necessary to come up with something worthwhile.

We created quite a few decent chances in the first half. The finishing was ok, it can always be better but we were asking legitimate questions of their goalie and back four. With that being said Hednesford are not as high as they are in the league by accident, and they countered effectively. Once they got the ball they broke up fast and our goalie had to make some good saves and claims. However our star new striker DC scored at 35'. There's not a goalie on Earth could have stopped this:

The first half ended 1 - 0. We had the advantage in terms of possession and chances, but not a very big advantage and Hednesford continued to build up some good plays, creating space away from our defenders here and there. We scored again at 68', but Hednesford got one back a couple of minutes later and the W hung in the balance as they continued to aggressively pursue an equaliser. Three yellow cards were dished out as the teams battled it out in midfield, with some heavy contacts and possession going back and forth. Hednesford did take the initiative in the final half hour but our defence was equal to the challenge and we held on for only our second home win of the season, with the other being on the 16th of August. :cool: This was also the first time we have won two games back-to-back this season. Have the Seasiders turned the corner?



Whitby soar to ninth, and Hednesford are fifth. Our GD is -1, so it would be nice to get that into the black next time out as well.
