Paul Scholes has ripped into three Manchester United stars and claimed they are no longer up to Premier League level.

United have endured a difficult start to the campaign, winning just three of their seven league games, while they also crashed out of the Carabao Cup to League Two side Grimsby Town.

Several United stars have come under fire, and Scholes was the latest to stick the boot in as he took aim at Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Casemiro.

"Shaw, Maguire, Casemiro, they've all been great players but they're at a stage of their career now where you get found out in the Premier League if you're not physically good enough," he told The Times.

"Their bodies are not athletic enough, they're not strong enough, they're not quick enough. They've dropped to a level where they can't cope with what's needed in the Premier League. Every player in the Premier League is an absolute machine. They've got five per cent body fat, they can run, they're strong, they can head it. Manchester United are carrying two or three players that are just not capable of living with it."

Paul Gascoigne has admitted that he will never stop drinking in a new interview where the England legend has insisted that he plans to 'die as Gazza' rather than change his present lifestyle.

Gascoigne, 58, has publicly battled alcohol addiction and mental health problems since retiring more than 20 years ago.

In his new book 'Eight', the former Newcastle star opens up about his personal battle with alcoholism and his continuing attempts to stay sober.

As part of his publicity tour for the new memoir, Gascoigne told viewers during his appearance on Good Morning Britain that he still drinks alcohol, repeatedly breaking down as he recounted his struggles with substance abuse.

'I don't get drunk because I hate my mum and dad or I hate the public. It is not about that. I do it for the sake of it. I might regret it. But I don't think about yesterday, I don't think about tomorrow. I just think about today and live for today.'

'I have not changed, I cannot change, I would not know how to change,' he added.

'I will probably die as Gazza. But I have nothing to hide. The whole country knows what I have done now.
