Premier League 2024/25 Thread - v3: Happy New Year Edition

He has that thing going on where he’s overrated by some, but underrated by others.

For about 5 years, around 1998-2004, or whatever, he was consistently a top 20 player in the world, imo.

Outside of maybe Ronaldo in 2008, United players often get overlooked because the collective was so strong. Rarely ever had 1-2 superstars who stood out from the rest eg Arsenal with Vieira and Henry.
Sport wise those Arsenal Utd years were the best years of my life. Considering I used to go to a good dozen games a season and even went to Old Trafford twice I never got to a Arsenal Utd game.

Fair play to Forrest, very efficient team this season, but Bournemouth are more fun to watch.

Iraola big contender for gaffer of the season, imo.

Bournemouth is playing some good stuff, no doubt. I'm joking here, but maybe there is something to it 🤔 that team looks roided to the gills.

Their strength and stamina aren't normal, and they're playing the same 11 all the time as they have injuries. They battered and bullied us and didn't look tired at all.

Same.

Was born in 1979 so the years that shaped me were, like 1995-2005, so glad United peak then at least.

Funnily, I’ve seen Arsenal about 5-6 times too, but never at Highbury or the new place.

It really is. Last year around this time we went on a 11 game win streak. Not struggle wins, but like 3-0s and such.

Poor form in the last games left us 3rd, and we got to Wembley, but got once again battered off by the now struggeling Southampton.

Would be interested to see the stats…..the team who finishes 3rd never seems to win the playoffs.

(good chance I’m talking bollocks).

@650lb Sumo do your thing.

Long said, I’m pretty sure PEDs in football is far more rampant than we are led to believe.

The asthma pandemics at Liverpool and Bayern are a bit of fun, but born out of reality.

Yeah, I bet there is way more of it going on than we know. Too much money is involved to punish teams that get caught.

I wouldn't have the energy for it anymore. Husband and I had his very elderly mum with us for most of our Highbury visits which considering we lived in Farnborough, had to get a train into Waterloo, 2 tubes and a 20 minute walk it was admirable that she didn't get knackered out.

Barely any major names ever “get caught”.

Remember Rio, for missing 3 tests and Pogba, then Mutu and Maradona (clearly rubbish) for coke.

Kinda like boxing and MMA where you kinda know it’s rampant but loopholed, imo. Cough cough, Randy, Henderson, Belfort etc.

Yeah. Kinda done with live sports and concerts myself. Couple a year, not a couple a week these days.

I’ve been out of England since 2009. Took a train from my home town, Durham, to Kings Cross last year…..had no idea Emirates was right next door!

Looked impressive, tbf.

Where did you move to? I left a year after you.
I only went to Emirates once and we beat The Scum so that was a good first and last. It's a lovely stadium.
