Tuanzebe closing in on Manchester United debut
Axel Tuanzebe is the Manchester United academy player closest to reaching the first-team, Jose Mourinho has revealed.

Jose Mourinho says Manchester United youngster Axel Tuanzebe could be a beneficiary of Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin's January departures.

Depay and Schneiderlin have joined Lyon and Everton respectively this month, leaving United with reduced numbers ahead of a busy run of fixtures.

Mourinho has given Tuanzebe, a defender, the chance to be involved in first-team training and thinks the 19-year-old is close to making his breakthrough.

Tuanzebe is yet to make his United debut, but did make the substitutes' bench twice for Premier League matches in 2015.

Mourinho told MUTV: "He can [be involved in the upcoming games]. We lost Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay, two players who didn't play many minutes or many matches for us.

"They were two players from the squad, so we need numbers and probably Axel is one of the boys that is in the academy who is more close to playing with us.

"So we have brought him up to give him more experience, to make the first team more natural for him in case we need him to play in the upcoming matches this month, so he can be more adapted to us."

Mourinho praised Tuanzebe in pre-season, saying you "only need 10 minutes to see his quality" after a late substitute appearance against Wigan Athletic.

United are at Hull City for the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final tie on Thursday, before facing Wigan in the FA Cup fourth round at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Euro 2016 provides €1.2bn boost to French economy
Hosting Euro 2016 pumped more than €1.2billion into the French economy, a report has revealed.

The French economy was boosted to the tune of more than €1.2billion as the country reaped the benefits of hosting Euro 2016.

Ten venues welcomed 24 countries as part of an expanded European Championship, with Portugal eventually beating Didier Deschamps' France in the final at the Stade de France.

And a report undertaken jointly by the Limoges-based Centre for Sports Law and Economy (CDES) and the KENEO agency has found that the impact of officials and participating teams, combined with 613,000 visitors, poured €1.22bn into the French coffers.

"There is no doubt that hosting a UEFA Euro is a massive financial benefit to any region," said CEO of UEFA Events SA, Martin Kallen, who was also the tournament director for Euro 2016.

"UEFA Euro 2016 showed that fans are willing to travel en masse to follow their respective countries, and the figures from the report showed just how much the money spent helped the local economy."

The report found that visitors stayed in France for an average of 7.9 days and spent an average of €154 per day, amounting to a total spend of €625.8m.

"Major sporting events can be expensive in terms of investment but there are both direct and indirect benefits [for the host country]," added Jacques Lambert, president of UEFA Euro 2016 SAS, with the rewards having far outweighed the €200m in public money that was spent on the tournament.

"It has been demonstrated that events like these have a positive economic impact."
