Euro 2024 qualification is complete! Hope I have the following details right as it is rather complex. Norway didn't make it :( but Wales are in the Play Offs! :D

Gibraltar finish with eight losses out of eight, no goals scored and 41 conceded (average: 5.125 per game).

@Deffid did you take the signet or the Glendronach 21 out for a spin yet? Thinking of getting a new bottle to celebrate the cricket world cup.

Currently have an Ardbeg Uigedal and a Wild Turkey Rare Breed on the shelf, but need to add something by the end of the year methinks.

Glendronach 21 yes, that one disappointed me be honest. It is pretty sharp and you don’t taste that much more than you do in regular non-200€ sherry Whiskys. Had it several times and always felt the same. I also seem to generally like the bourbon and sherry mix better than pure sherry cask Whiskys, with bourbon plus port being my favorite. Love port cask Whiskys. :D

Uigedail is a great one, really loved that. Can experiment a little bit with water, too. Haven’t had the Rare Breed but every YouTuber loves that one, so there’s that haha.

Signet is still closed. :D

yeah, I held off on the 21 after hearing mixed reviews on it. People still give good reviews on the Glendronach 18, which I had one dram of a few months back. Very good, not sure on the price point, felt that Bunnahabhain was a better value sherried scotch. Probably would get a Bunnahabhain 18 before a Glendronach 18, easier to find here and cheapier.

I've had the Ardbeg 10 recently which was bourbon casked, and went with the the Oogie as it has that sherry and peat combo with cask strength. Very busy and satisfying.

The Signet is very hyped and I haven't seen a bad review on it. From the presentation to the nose to the palate, it has been well received. The bottle and the stopper look great as well. Looks like decorative art.

The rare breed, for me, very nice, probably the best bourbon I've had thus far. Prefer scotch still, but a nice change of pace. Also cask strength at around 58 ABV. Has the traditional caramel, vanilla, and sweet taste but has a bit more spice than I'm used to in bourbon, which is why I think the scotch drinkers promote it.

Re port, had a Glenmorangie 14 (Quinta Ruban) recently, and enjoyed it but was very port forward, drowned out everything else (could pick out mandarine oranges but that's about it), might as well just bought a cheap port. You have any suggestions that got it right?

Yeah I’ve also heard that many like the 18 better, I’ve also loved the 15. I might buy the 18 down the line, but definitely not in a hurry. Bunna 18 is class, but you know my opinion on that hehe.

Ardbeg 10 fell out of favor for me, liked the 5 and An Oa better when I got the tasting set and compared them blindly. Oogie is the best of the regular range for sure.

Can’t wait to taste that one, but have too many bottles open right now, especially among the expensive ones. Got two Macallan special editions for Christmas that are waiting to disappoint me lol, but one is named smooth arabica which should be a great comparison for the Signet.

Held back on it due to the cask strength because I prefer normal strength and use bourbons for mixing.

I liked the Quinta 14 tbh haha, got the new version but haven’t opened that one yet. Love the Talisker Port Ruighe for example. Had the Dalmore Port Wood, Ardmore Port 12, a Glen Scotia White Port, Glendronach Port. None disappointed me. But the Port is dominant for sure, if you don’t like that it’s tough hehe.

Re bourbons, I'm the same way. I've tried a few bourbons for sipping - Eagle Rare, Whistlepig (rye), and now the Wild Turkey, but all in all I prefer just mixing a cheap quality bourbon with coke ie Makers Mark or Buffalo Trace. Haven't tried Woodford Reserve or Elijah Craig before, that's probably the extent of my bourbon bucket list. Too sweet neat for me, and it's relatively the same.

I might check out the Port Ruige before writing off port finishes. Really enjoyed the Talisker 10, even if the specs aren't all there.

I've tired a few dozen distilleries thus for, got to put Bruichladdich and Bunnahabhain at the top for that balance of quality and value. Will be my go to drinks going forward but will try a few new things here and there.

If they want to play with so many teams just let the X best 3rd teams qualify directly without another play off nonsense. It's really just ridiculous and confusing

#Whisk(e)yBros @BAM @Deffid I might have a sip of the Tomintoul 16 and Talisker Skye on the weekend as I meet up with one of my old mates on Saturday and he recently bought these two. Both new to me.
