#Whisk(e)yBros @BAM @Deffid I might have a sip of the Tomintoul 16 and Talisker Skye on the weekend as I meet up with one of my old mates on Saturday and he recently bought these two. Both new to me.

haven't had either. But, apparently, the Skye is like a bourbon forward 10, which doesn't sound too bad.

The description of the 16, which is 40 ABV and chill filtered, and ex bourbon cask, should be pretty smooth and an approachable Speyside.

Re bourbons, I'm the same way. I've tried a few bourbons for sipping - Eagle Rare, Whistlepig (rye), and now the Wild Turkey, but all in all I prefer just mixing a cheap quality bourbon with coke ie Makers Mark or Buffalo Trace. Haven't tried Woodford Reserve or Elijah Craig before, that's probably the extent of my bourbon bucket list. Too sweet neat for me, and it's relatively the same.

I might check out the Port Ruige before writing off port finishes. Really enjoyed the Talisker 10, even if the specs aren't all there.

I've tired a few dozen distilleries thus for, got to put Bruichladdich and Bunnahabhain at the top for that balance of quality and value. Will be my go to drinks going forward but will try a few new things here and there.

I recently got the Wild Turkey Longbranch, 1L bottle and I also liked that. Was a great price and it's a nice bourbon. But definitely there's much more difference and variance in Scotch Whiskys, I also like to go with the tier above the cheap cheap bourbons. Makers 46 for example, want to try the Four Roses Single Barrel, bith only around 35€ but already pretty good.

I forgot to mention the Laphroaig Port Wood, but that is super rare (came out years ago, just some left over bottles on the market).

Never had an unpeated Laddie sadly, Octomore and Port Charlotte is class tho.
