Utd have a similar problem to Spurs.

Putting aside the immeasurable favourables needed, such as large slices of luck in several areas, for Spurs to be in legit title contention they'd also need Hojbjerg on the pitch for every remaining minute of play. Utd pretty much the same but with Matic & Fred. And that's just to repeat your last years final standing.

We've actually got a decent sized squad of "name" players.....problem is half of them are chocolate tea pots.

Not getting the love for Matic neither, tbh. Too slow. He went from 5/10 in 2019 to 6/10 in 2020, imo.

When almost all your squad are out of form or lack consistency, not much you can do really.

Only way Spurs are title contenders is if City and Liverpool continue to under-perform, imo. Thought Spurs looked average yesterday.....win when you're playing average is a good sign, saying that. Clearly look like #3 to me, which is a credit to all concerned. After WBA this weekend they have a really tough 6-7 games, so will be interesting to see where they are at Xmas.

Poch's team selection was a strength in big moments to me honestly, you've seen more of him.
I think that would be crucial to United right now. McTominay on the right is unbelievable.
Poch is 10x the coach Ole is. They're not even really comparable, imo.

Funny as i find Keane to be, Tim Cahill was spot on correct. Arteta's sticking with his philosophy which given time will become an identity. Only 2pts behind Spurs and they've already visited Anfield, Emirates, King Power and Old Trafford.

Meanwhile Utd fans are still left to rue being stuck in a never ending cycle of talking about losing one player in gms that can conjure up an individual moment to dig them out instead of focusing on basic systemic issues.

Mental they weren't in for Partey.

I've always rated Matic, but at this point he's a Cup-Tie CDM and a "fixer" when you're 1-1 in a tough fixture, or a "Closer" coming on in the last 20 to make sure you don't concede. Not a starter at all.
Poch is obviously better, I think we just need to specify at what specifically.

Roy's reaction was a damning indictment of Ole. He knows he can't defend his pal's choices so he's being a bint about the other team. Hilarious really.

No ones giving Matic "love" really tho. Just pointing out he's a place holder who is still better than your other options currently.

Ole extended Matic's contract. Arteta stole Partey away from Atleti.

Arteta's getting a tune out of Holding.

Partey's presence alone gave El Neny wings yesterday.

By all accounts Arteta wanted Jorginho or Auoar....Partey was not his choice.

Odd no one else went in for Partey despite being available for cheap. Red flags.

BODIED your team.

Every top team should have been all over Atleti when Thomas Partey became available

Agree. He's their only choice when up against decent sides tho, far as i can see. They've tried all their CM's in there.

I reckon they could prolly get away using McT with Fred against West Broms and Sheff U's but Fred needs a better screen behind him against better teams.

I dont even think Ole underestimated Paella Pulis, like some are suggesting. He had a decision to make and needed the sooner win against RBL more.

Think he desperately wants to play 4-3-3, but we don't really have the personnel to play it.

Feels like whatever formation he'd like to play in he's always a player or two short of being able to use it consistently.

Been there 2yrs now.

Well, in the forwards especially.

Was not a big fan of Sanchez nor Lukaku, but I refuse to believe they could not offer more than Ighalo, Cavani and James.
