Nighthawks is another hidden classic. The way Paradise Alley could have been a side story in the Godfather universe, Nighthawks could have been part of the same world as Cruising with Pacino and maybe Taxi Driver.

Cobra is certainly fun enough that it should be on the list too. But Nighthawks, Lock Up and Over the Top are the three unknown actual good performances.

I've seen over the top many times. Only flaw is the kids terrible acting but it's not as bad as the kid in last action hero.

Yeah Sly has to carry those scenes and kind of gets blamed for the scene. All of the interactions with adults are on point though. The second John Grizzly match, where you can tell he will never be able to beat this guy again in his life but does this one time only out of pure rage is some of the best stuff in his career.

Last Action Hero kid was not good but I think I probably said earlier he had kind of a hard job. He had to deliver several lines to nobody while watching movies in the theater that were essentially annoying comments on the movie...to nobody at all. It's kind of hard to find intention to put on that, especially for a kid.
 
I feel like they could have played up how smart Dutch was a little more. In the end, with little resources, and being caught off guard he defeated a predatory alien with highly advanced technology. Dude was a legend.

I didn't even like how the kid arm wrestled the other bully kid. It was fake and bad as it got to me. The kid in last action, even scenes with Arnold he was bad to me. Now I myself would have been much worse so I don't want to be a tough critic on him but he made the movie less enjoyable for me, which is a shame because the concept of the film is great but it didn't deliver.
 
The Predator itself is one of the greatest movie monsters of all time.

The reveal when he takes the helmet off,revealing the beautiful face underneath.

The mandibles quivering with excitement that a old school strikes only battle will ensue,Pride rules only.

One of the best moments ever

I think it was fine how they did it,because alot of the shit he planned didnt work or wasnt enough to kill him. In the end he had to improvise to win. Plus a little luck,that the Predator happened to go right underneath the tree-weight. Even when he accidentally discovered how to keep himself invisible,the Predator was still able to figure out where he was,and got him into the water,washing the mud off.

Yeah in both cases the kid didn't really help matters out. Other than the actual quality of some of the acting and line delivery, I though David Mendenhall fit his role quite well in Over the Top. The kid in Last Action Hero had me wanting him gone almost right away because we're introduced to him when he's delivering smart ass lines about action movie tropes to nobody at all. But that's partly on the script and director. I think it was pretty easily solved by making that a dialogue with Robert Prosky.

I wish they’d learn from Alien and put prime Arny in Predator 2 instead of starting everything over again. It would’ve been so much better to continue that story by starting a revenge against a CIA unit for putting him in that mess.

Yeah well in 1990 trying to get Arnold to do a movie probably wasnt that easy. Plus he was already trying on different more challenging roles by then.
