Pot when you were growing up

Back in the day my buddy got a small rock of opium and we used to scrape off a little opium flake on to the bud when we smoked. That was some crazy, magical, dream world shit.

Coming up, pot was generally established as Mexican brickweed, or commercial, which graded downwards through schwag (seeds and stems, plenty) and then dirtweed (seeds, stems, the smell of dirt, musty, maybe you'll find pebbles or an insect cocoon. Sometimes smells of ammonia if it's been sitting around long).
You paid 20 or 25 an eighth and 40 a ¼.

Then there was sinsemilla, no seeds, nicely transported flower, sometimes smelled of oranges; they packed the dope in citrus crates. A higher grade. Sometimes 40 a time but that was a friendly deal, usually fifty to sixty bucks.

Then there was what the kids call dank, we called it Kind bud. That was almost always 100 a ¼. So much skunky goodness you could smell it through two baggies from a block away.

Remember them days

Always had access to the best weed since I am from Amsterdam <{jackyeah}>

Are you from the U.K.? Same story for me, squidgy black first of all, then soap bar after that, weed was a myth-someone always knew someone whose mate’s brother could get weed, but it never happens.

I don’t miss soap bar, but I get quite nostalgic about squidgy black these days, would love to be able to get some now.

Indeed I am bro and I'm going back nearly 30 years ago. Actually bumped into an old mate of mine the other day who had a little bit of black and got "a bit for a stick" off him :p. First time I've seen the stuff in years but not as squishy as back in the days of old lol. Was aight in my bong though. :)

In my younger days when we smoked it was mostly all resin, I guess cos it was more common and cheaper.

Red Seal, Squidgy Black, Soap, Gold Seal.

Not really smoked for years, most of the weed the kids are smoking these days is way too strong for this old-timer.

Ha, only read this after I just posted, but same.

I have a lad at work that still gets red seal. Keep meaning to get some, for old times sake. Used to love the giggly buzz whilst listening to old hip hop on speakers that were way too bassy!

Hate that word POT... that’s what your hippy mom and dad called it.

Lol sure do! Growing up in Michigan as a teen in the 90's it was...

Red hair brick weed which would run $25 for an 1/8. I used to get ounces fronted for $130 and would basically just smoke for free. It had seeds and stems, but would still get you blazed. It was basically just the run of the mil pot, but not dirt weed.

Then there was "midgrades" which was a step up and usually fluffy with few stems and seeds. $35 an 1/8

Then there was (like you said) Kind buds which ran about $50 an 1/8.

I pretty much quit smoking in my early 20's, but will take a toke every now and again and have a lot of friends that smoke. It's been medically legal in Michigan for several years now and the street prices are $10 a gram and everything is "kind bud" now :D. Weed also just became legal here. You are allowed to possess or transport up to 2.5 ounces and grow up to 12 plants.

I remember always turning down the better weed for the cheaper stuff. It was always there, but people bought the cheap shit cuz we were poor kids.

I just think the good shit got cheaper. So now it's more available, and people are noticing it.

Hydroponics has existed for while. And people have been perfecting weed on it since the beginning. I'm sure there was good weed out there back in the day. Jamacain wild weed is strong as shit and has always been, just not as available, so I know there was good shit 50 years ago.

Back in the 90s in Hawaii a lot of people just called it weed or bud, at least in my circle. At that time you could get really good stuff here. Maybe because a lot of the old school local kona gold and maui wowie was not hard to get. We would just roll joints, smoke it from a pipe, bong or even something dumb like a soda can. Hash oil and the more potent varities did exist, but not like what we have now. However I don't think it was nearly as potent as what is out today. From friends that still smoke weed till this day, they all say that the stuff from way back was junk compared to now. The last time I smoked was on my high school graduation in 1998 I believe. I may have done it one more time after that, but I really can't remember.

Breaking news people weed kills lol x 1000 . Once I was so high I almost od`d on munchies

Weed is a helluva drug friend.

nice try HR

edit:
but seriously, weed varied wildly around these parts when i was in my teens. some really awesome shit, some really awful shit, and everything inbetween. and that would be from the same dealer over the course of a couple months. and there would always be that time of the year where it was the "dry" season where you were only getting dirt weed or marginally better. not sure what that was all about as consistency is much better nowadays, all year long.
