bit on the small side but other than that nice collection
do you own a gym or keep your old equipment or something?
can't tell if sarcasm.... lol
First, keep in mind that 1 pair of Winnings would be worth 10 pairs of KOFightgear. Most of my stuff I got on sale, or before it got stupid expensive (the Grants).
I help(ed) out a lot at the muay thai gym.
In fact, the 2 pairs of Top Contenders in the upper left are strictly loaner gloves.
I also originally intended for the KO Fightgears to be exclusively loaners as well, but balked when initially they seemed a bit too small & hard for sparring.
The Windy shin guards are loaners too. I usually double up with the Title MMAs & the TigerClaws for when I'm holding pads for someone. Just got the Throwdowns right before I got sick. I have 1 pair of headgear for sparring (black), 1 pair for competition (red w/black flames). The Boon Thai cup is the only one i seem to use anymore, the other ones are either in bad shape (blue) or just not good (Revgear - required for the krav maga class I tried out).
As far as gloves after that, I've never actually used the light brown shevlin bag gloves on the center right. Got 'em off ebay for like $15, they were a lot harder, older, & more disgusting than I thought they'd be. I may actually give them a shot now that I've got good knuckle guards and they've been cleaned up some more; but the padding's pretty thin & hard, and there's no wrist support to speak of.
I don't use the Shevlin lace ups and I rarely use the Grants (hate dealing with laces). The Ringside Ultimate Classics have been retired up till now. I save the ASUs for sparring people I want to hurt. I haven't been using the Shevlin velcros much this year either.
For the 8 or so pairs I use, I like to rotate my gloves (sparring & bag). I was thinking about this today; it's funny, I've almost come full circle. I initially invested in rotating my gloves & regularly cleaning them because I got a slight case of ringworm on my forearm from a different pair of Ringside Ultimate Classic Super Bag gloves that I used almost daily. It's sad that doing all that still didn't keep me from getting mrsa. Thing is, I sweat a lot (even with wraps) and nothing feels more gross than putting on a pair of gloves still damp from the day before.
I think my collection's actually pretty sparring glove-heavy right now; especially if I can't get the Ultimate Classics back into rotation. With the switch to boxing full time, I may pick up a pair of Ringside super bag gloves before the end of the year. Wish the prices on Grant super bag gloves hadn't gotten outrageous; they were really my favorite.
