14oz Reyes, even if they're ACTUALLY 16oz.. are going to hit pretty hard for sparring. Wouldnt particularly like sparring someone with them

Which is why i break them out when someone brings in the everlast specials. Eye for an eye. Toof for a toof.

But in all seriousness you shouldnt be going at full power. Ive used them for years no complaints.

I haven't been hit with 14oz Reyes, but have been hit with 16 and 18oz Reyes, they were broken in, and they weren't all that bad. Definitely better than getting hit old hard everlast and cheap title and ringsides that have doubled as heavy bag gloves

I just know that when I'd land with my 16oz Reyes, I could feek my knuckles coming through the padding and making contact.

Ultimately it's down to you and your sparring partners, whatever you're comfortable with. I'm sparring with Beaulieu gloves with big thick, soft IMF padding, and I still get one person complaining to me about them lol. These ones http://forums.sherdog.com/forums/f67/review-beaulieu-16oz-training-gloves-2242339/

Thought there was a bigger difference in size between 16oz Grants and Beaulieus than there actually is. Having them in front of me, the Beaulieu is a teeny bit longer, but really they are practically the same size! Here they are:

Love Boon's....lol. The darker ones were from Title. The Lighter brown was from Kstar gear. Dont know the reasoning for the different shades. The leather is slightly different also. All in all.....great gloves. You made a good choice.

Running into wrist issues Minow? I noticed you asked a similar question in the mexican glove thread

Yup, I fell and hurt my wrist awhile back and it's been a problem since. Grant has the best cuff Ive tried, better than Reyes, I but don't want to keep those gloves for other reasons. Im having Muhammad make some lace up bag gloves with extra beefy wrist support. If they work out well, may get him to do the same for sparring gloves. If not, then Im thinking about plus size Tokushus, and Boons. Would be nice to try Boons too and theyre pretty cheap.

I should get mine in this upcoming week i got laceups so if you want i can let you know how the wrist support is.

Edit boons

Yeah i noticed on topboxers gloves the red ones, you pit extra padding on the palm, how do you like that style? I take it you did that for parrying or coaching reasons?

No, that's just how they were, he wasn't offering custom gloves at that point. They were the first batch of gloves Bill had made, that's why there was no logo, and the wrist support was pretty poor -- padding far too soft. Not stiff enough.

Anyway, Boon's do offer great wrist support. Minowa, if you have larger hands and especially long fingers, the Tokushu Plus may be a better, albeit more expensive, option. Boons are great for Medium hands (the hand compartment has a similar size as that of Reyes). I dk, if you've been fine using Mexican gloves they may work.

My Boons wrist support is excellent for velcro gloves. The Twins as well.

Task, I've been meaning to ask you about the Twins' wrist support since you have a lot of experience (more than me anyway lol) with Thai gloves. I'm still interested in getting a pair but I keep hearing 2 polar opposite opinions--some people say Twins gloves offer no wrist support, while other people say it's excellent. Is it an issue of forearm and wrist thickness? I have no issues with my Windys, but I can imagine a person with thin wrists and forarms hating them (the ectomorph).

Twins don't "flop"--the red flag for bad wrist support--do they?
