That's exactly what's happening with me brother, any recommendations? You think I'm better off just going custom before I hurt myself? Been training a lot more during quarantine. The right NS glove doesn't seem to have that problem, the left is hard to close so it kind of does. Could change as they break in, but I'm awaiting NS response before I start using them.
For me, I have found that if my hand is like that in a glove only very slightly, then I can get them to break in over time to fit properly, but otherwise it's not going to happen and the gloves aren't safe to use as with your hand in that position you are always going to hurt yourself. So I try to get gloves that I can get my hand/fingers deep enough into to work on the first time putting them on, and if not then I sell them immediately.

Makes sense, no wonder you put out so many quality reviews in the past.

Care to share any that have worked for you so I could give them a try? You recommend I just go custom?

Some brands that I can get my hands into at 16oz off the top of my head are Winning (not at lower weights), Reyes (don't like the thumb though), and also at 14oz there's Fly, TopBoxer (not the Thai style), the Rival gloves I've tried, and apart from that I think it's just been random gloves, or ones that would be hard to get now. Thai brands are normally pretty bad for longer hands. I personally wouldn't confidently ask for a custom glove under 14oz unless I knew that model of glove was already fitting me at 14/16oz, or unless it was a fight glove.

Fight gloves that are advertised as XL can usually be a good fit too. I also have the Rival RB50's in XL and those fit but thumb was stiff until broken in.

But doesn't someone like Top boxer make the hand compartment based on your hand measurements? I was under the impression that with these types of customization options any glove should work.

I guess I think if a 16oz glove doesn't fit you, it'll be difficult for anyone to get that same design of glove then fitting you in a 10oz version even when they're keeping your hand measurements in mind - the measurements help but might not produce miracles if the glove is much too short for you when it's just default stock.

I just assumed they did some magic with the foam and other materials, but I'm ignorant to the process. My experience with NS is my first international order.

I just made it back to Japan and went to a couple of places that usually keep Winning gloves in stock.
These days most weights and colors are out of stock.
There is a 3 month wait for the shops to get the stock colors in. I'm told that the priority is for the fulfillment of the custom orders at the moment.
No doubt the last year has has an effect on manufacturing here.
I did manage to find one pair of blue laceup 14's so I grabbed them while I could.

I regret not buying from the assortment of custom colors that were available last year.

Collection pics for the thread.

Yeah I get all mine from @Edgar Martinez
I think if you are trying to get authentic Mexican gloves and @Edgar Martinez is not involved, you are missing out. I consider my friend Edgar an expert on Mexican gloves. I’m not saying that because I agree with what he says. I’m saying that because he points out things I miss on these wonderful leather pieces of art. I can tell when I read his reviews that he looks for things in a boxing glove that even some of the glove nerds here would miss. Me included. He is a great ambassador for these artisan gloves and the wonderful culture that gives them life. If you find yourself daydreaming about Mexican gloves the way I do, you’d better get in touch with Edgar.

Hey guys,
Thank you all on this community for your constant support I've been receiving. It has been really joyful how many of you have supported me on this journey somehow.
Also many of my learning on gloves has been from this Forum, and many of you have been very patient and friendly with me guiding me through the important details of a good glove.

This just make my belief on how fighters are loyal and support each others. Cheers to everyone in this community! :)

Hey guys

I've got these brand new New Sporting gloves 12 oz Velcro, these were part of my Stock for listing in my site, but found some small aesthetic issues in the leather which can't offer these as 100% quality.

You may see those small dark spots highlighted in the image. This doesn't have any impact on the glove performance though.

If anyone is interested on this price accessible gloves please just send me a private message here or through my Instagram. Price is $130 USD with shipping included in America [+$15 shipping to other continent].

Think after my experience with NS although the communication with them was brilliant I'd definitely order through @Edgar Martinez if I was to get another pair. When people go direct honestly they end up with shite....which in a way confuses me from a business point of view.

Maybe this is because the difference for them is selling to someone in Mexico who might complain to them more easily and kick up a fuss if there's QC issues, vs. selling to someone abroad who doesn't have much recourse except from putting forward a paypal dispute.

Oh no, in my opinion is all the way around. These are Mexican informal business [called this way as they do business without declaring income, hence no tax payment], which aren't registered publicly as business, which means they may not be identified by Mexico tax system or customer protection public services.

In our Mexican culture, customer service from these small business is not very often a good one. So when a customer experience some incidence, it is often we don't do much more than to accept what it is. What I'm trying to say, is us Mexicans dealing with some of these small business, we don't really push or take it further very much when some incidence happens. As it may be opposed to first world countries.

Appreciate it is some business culture we ourselves as consumers promote, but I have heard rumors that even Cleto Reyes factory, its gear that has small quality issues is left to be sold in Mexico, so the 100% quality gear can go to foreign countries.

Similar happen with some of these workshops, they are used to work easier or having less complains from their Mexican customers, which doesn't mean they provide better quality. We may just be more used to dealing with these kind of services.

This is the voice of authority. Why take a chance? You know the gloves are good. Order through Edgar and let him run interference for us. You get the gloves you want, pay a price you agree to pay and Edgar gets to make a small income. I think this is a win-win situation. Just think of it this way. Almost every single glove maker on the planet tries to replicate the Mexican glove. Why is that? Because there are no better gloves made by anyone anywhere. Rival, Everlast, Venum, Title and Ringside all make a “Mexican” glove. So does Infinitude and Topboxer. There is no finer glove made. Period. If you want to sleep in your gloves, but Fly or Winning. If you want to punch and do so at the limits of your physical ability-buy a Mexican glove.

My son has been training for a July 3 fight and he found out a couple of days ago he no longer has an opponent. Normally not a big deal. However, because of pandemic and lockdown he decided to see just how big he could get lifting weights. When he returned to the boxing gym he was 190+ of gym muscles. He could barely spar 3-3 minute rounds. Big muscles require big oxygen and cause big fatigue. His weight was slowly coming down when he took this fight. The hard cut began. He blew past 165 so another fighter in our gym took that opponent. He decided to fight at 152. Then his opponent notified he was withdrawing. There is nothing left to cut and he’s 160. It has been hard to watch. He is very hungry all the time. He begins talking about food hours before he can eat again. His training regimen is very strict with lots of cardio for his weight cut. He is very disciplined and can make the weight but he is almost 40 lbs lighter than he was in March. He is very disappointed but decided to continue his camp to see if another opponent can be found. I decided to encourage him by buying him another pair of sparring gloves. I noticed him admiring a fighter’s gloves at our gym. The owner of the gloves really recommended them. They are Rival RS100 lace up sparring gloves in 16oz. My son will spar with them as soon as he can get some rounds in them on the heavy bag.

How did you attach the base to that piece of granite? I think you did a good job.

The base is a homemade Húsafell Stone which I made a while ago out of concrete is really heavy. The pole is a metal and treaded so it’s attached to a flange and then bolted in using concrete bolts. I used a real leather speedball for the top

Hi folks,
I just picked up these two beauties.

Big shout out to @Edgar Martinez for the Classics. I've been using the Fortress ones for the past two weeks but just received the Classics. I'm airing those out because the wife is not happy with the strong smell; it totally permeates our condo. The Fortress will replace the Rival in my rotation; they are just really stinky now. The Classics are a pandemic present to myself for a quality piece of leather good.

BTW, I have a TopBoxer Flores style glove. While I love the Aliens, I totally regret the Flores. Anyone interested in buying it for 50US + shipping costs?
