What are people's opinions on the best bag gloves?

Right now I have rival rb10s and they're really nice, there's nothing wrong with them but im thinking about selling them just to try something new

But I dont want to end up with something worse then what I already had

I was thinking about trying some custom top boxers made for the heavy bag but idk, just worried they won't be as good as what I already have
Why not keep what you have until after you get a better pair?

Topboxer win1 was no good for bag in my opinion. They might have something better suited to it.

You would like the Rival RB11s. Sort of their top bag glove before getting into the more gimmicky 3DO padding.

TB Aliens are better for the bag. A lot of pop and you feel the impact but don't feel the pain. Several reviews on YouTube attesting to this. I've got the 12oz in velcros and they are sleek and sexy. I have the RS11v & stock Guerrero fight gloves as reference for Rivals. Wrist support is just a hair below the wrist lock strap thingy on the Rival. Just another option though as there are a lot of offerings in that price range.

I just passed the last few weeks on sherdog and other websites to gather infos about TopBoxer Alien gloves. I read lot of things about them, and after some hesitations, I bought them and received them today. I'm gonna make a little review here.

First, I had a very bad experience with Necalli that I got last year. I was looking for gloves for bag sessions, and I got the Necalli 14oz. The overall quality was good, but the gloves was so stiff, and so small at the entrance that I was not able to put my hand in it with the handwrap, and barely with no wraps. It took 2 weeks with a beans can inside to allow me to put my hand, with still lot of difficulties. After 4months of using it at my club and my home, the gloves was still so stiff that the base of the thumb was still painful, and the comfort was totally absent. I sold them on ebay.
I took back a pair of rival RS11V Sparring 16oz that I got 4 years ago (and stopped using them because I teared my scapho-lunate ligament with them), for bag session which are so compact and hard that they can easily be mistaken for 14oz, even 12... Impossible to spare with them (or you have partner agree to get their nose bloody at the first jab landed), don't know what Rival had in mind by making them... The problem with those one is also the wrist support which is very bad, despite all the mechanism invent by Rival for them. And they fill very plastic. I'm selling them, if interested after this awesome advertisement (they are very comfortable anyway) :)
I got the chance to get some old Grant 12oz, used condition, but still going good. Amazing sensation to hit the bag with them. You fill secure, you fill the punch. It's just that with 12oz, my knuckles and my wrist (which had already 2 surgeries) was filling a bit painful the day after. I wish I can have some 14 or 16 last generation Grant Velcro, but the price... Just crazy.
For sparring I have Adispeed 16oz and Winning 16oz, which are great. But way too soft for the bag.

So looking to find a new bag gloves, I read lot of good stuff about TopBoxer, especially on their Win-1 gloves, which I was not interested, having already a pair of Winning and a good clone of it with the AdiSpeed. I found mixed reviews about the aliens here and on youtube. Some people were complaining about the cuff being too short, the fingers compartment being too short also, on youtube a guy complained about the glove being way too huge and large that it was not usable, etc.
And some others were saying that the gloves were fantastic which don't help neither to have a good idea of what your buying.

Here my opinion:

• First, good quality. Stitches, leather, etc. Honestly no flaws. For the price (110$, 90€ shipping for free), you can't complain.
• Gloves are stiff, but normal stiff. Not Necalli wood stiff that you have no hope to make it better. It gonna take 3weeks I guess to break it in and make it fill good, with ease to open the hand, but that is totally normal.
• Feel very snug. Nice comfort material inside. Actually a little like the Adispeed. Not a lot of room, but enough to insert my hand with the hand wraps and a Winning NG-2 quite easily. Will be easier with time, so happy with that. Good sensation anyway, no discomfort.
• Very well balanced. Exactly 13.3oz for both. But quite light. 13.3oz with the velcro (normally the velcro is not take in account for the weight), is very light. Even if they look big, they are actually closer that 12oz than 14oz. I will see with time if the padding offer more impact absorption than a 12oz gloves. If not, I will be a little disappointed.
• Strangely, very good wrist support, I don't feel the cuff being too short. The velcro is perfect, you can well tight the gloves around your forearm. That the point I was scared of, and it seems to be very good. Better than the adispeed with the angled velcro imo.
• The wrist side protection below the palm on the inside, which lot of people say they are very stiff like cardboard, and not thick enough. Well they are right. Compare to the Grant or Winning where you have an inch of medium soft material to protect and stabilize the glove against your forearm, here it is really a half inch piece of very hard material. Like I said the wrist support with the velcro is very good, maybe I have a big forearm so it's working better for me than for other. But I don't see what those protections offers compare to classic one. Could be a good evolution to have thicker and softer protections like Grant has.
• Thumb is good. I generally don't have a problem with thumbs. Grant ones little too short. With the aliens gloves, very good, long enough, no problem.
• Finally they are puncher gloves, good for bag and mitts, but you don't want to punch your sparring partner with them on the face, if you are friend with them anyway.

Overall, at first sign, the 90€ are very well spend. No bad surprise at all, and shipping for free with only 4days between the order and the delivery... You can't do better than that...

I will if ask do a review when used more to see the evolution, but after everybody is different so the sensation can varies. But the glove in itself is really well made, and great great quality.

Hey @r7n
Thanks for the detailed reviews - very helpful- and beautiful gloves you've got there.

I am a big Topboxer fan. I own 2-20oz pair. Both custom, both welted seams, both lace ups. One pair is the Alien and the other is a triple cuffed Win1. I use heavy gloves because when I still fought (middleweight then light heavyweight) I had lots of pop. I weigh 183/83 kilos in shape at 57 years of age. It became a habit and now I like the sensation of training my upper body when boxing. I have nearly all top brand premium gloves and I’m a little quirky about my glove choices. I love Mexican gloves. They are not suited for everyone. My hands are getting older and but I still have glove calluses on my second and third knuckles from years of training in Mexican gloves. Just because you don’t like Mexican gloves does not mean you are a pussy. To the contrary. The heaviest handed pro at my gym hates Mexican gloves almost as much as he hates me hitting him with them. This guy is a big long heavyweight with great big hams for fists and dislikes Mexican gloves because they are uncomfortable. I have very specific reasons for my preferences as do most boxers. But I love Mexican gloves. Boxeo, Casanova, Seyer (old Seyer not the plastic crap they currently offer), Necalli, Gil, Everlast MX-not a truly Mexican glove but one of the top gloves in my estimation, and king of them all-Cleto Reyes. Here are my TopBoxer’s.

Freaking iPhone fucked up the post. So much for teaching old dogs new tricks. Giving me an iPhone is like giving a gorilla a Swiss watch.

I forget about my size: 5"7.7 and I weigh daily around 143lb. Hands medium size, length 7.5 inches and width 3.35 inches.
I would not fill comfortable to spar with a Mexican puncher gloves honestly. The 14oz alien are still very compact, despite of the size. Maybe above 14oz, the foam is softer, like with the win-1. But on the bag, I really don't like using the winning type soft glove. The softness make you land the punches always perpendicular to the bag, which is fine for the jab or cross, but for the hooks, you want to be able to continue the movement after the hit, to "rip" the bag. And the softness of 16oz soft gloves make it not natural, almost dangerous in a sense that you feel the glove 'stick to the bag' and bending your wrist backward if you don't make an extra effort.

I don't have a standard that dictates what weight or type of glove someone should use. I have a personal preference based on my experience. My son, who is a middleweight, likes hitting the mitts and double end bag with light gloves. 12-14oz. He spars in 16-18oz gloves. Now the word "light" is relative. There are fighters at my gym who train in 8-10oz fight gloves when not sparring. My hands are not what they used to be and I like the extra padding on a heavier glove. If I am at our boxing gym, by the time I am hitting a heavy bag, I have the equivalent of 8 rounds already. 4 jumping rope and 4 shadow boxing. So if I get another 8-10 rounds on the bag, when I'm finished I have 14 to 16 rounds in. My son is in the deep end of a fight camp with a mid-June fight date. Yesterday he used some 20oz gloves on the mitts and body belt for 6 rounds, then went 3 rounds on the heavy bag. That was after 3 rounds jumping rope and 3 rounds of shadow boxing. So that's 15 rounds. 20oz Topboxer's Alien gloves are plenty padded. I also have 3 pair of 18oz Cleto Reyes for sparring. Again, heavier gloves have more padding by virtue of the weight. Now I do have some Mexican gloves in 16oz that I do not spar in. Why? Because the latex padding is still too stiff. In time though, they will become softer. Some can be used for sparring then, some never make the cut and I use them on the bag.

yes but only 1-2 months, so far the gloves feels great. Just waiting until totally break in. I got the nasa foam type and waiting for his florest style.

The gloves at first feel tight for 16oz, lining good not rough like some of mexican gloves, thumb position also good no issue like first batch, he already fix it. The padding is thick, solid, but not too dense maybe because it use many layer and horsehair. It’s an awesome gloves and worth to try.
how are they doing?

post a picture!

Currently using Fairtex BGV1 in white and Venum Elite Shin Guards. As i started Kickboxing 1year ago i struggled to find the best gear. I am 207 tall and 97kg heavy. Big hands, not meaty, just long fingers and wide hands. Super long shins, but the elite were the longest to get. My trainer said that everyone is using 10oZ gloves for padwork. There is just very very light sparring to train techniques. I guess in the real sparring dates no one will spar with 10 oZ gloves. With my height and weight i would go for 16oZ instantly Due to Covid there is no training so i got myself a punching bag. After the first session i had sore wrists, so i guess the bgv 1 is not the best glove for me. My dream is a Cleto Reyes for bag work but i read and saw that they got bad wrist support. I dont know, its hard for tall dudes equipment wise.

I had picked up both a Fairtex BGV1 and Twins BGVL3 (anyone know what those letters mean, btw?) and your experience doesn't surprise me. Online it really looked like Fairtex was the more premium of the two, but when I got them on my hands I was really impressed with the Twins. I always thought they looked dumb and too much of a bubble shape, but they've completely won me over. I mean Fairtex isn't bad. I really like the lining and the leather, but the padding and wrist I found a bit lacking.

BG = Boxing Glove, and V = Velcro

I guess i will get either a Haybusa T3 in 16oZ or a Cleto Reyes Velcro in 16oZ for Training alone on Heavy / Punching Bag. In class i stick with 12 oZ in tschnical padwork.

Guess the wrist support is the major aspect between this too, but the cletos look superb imo. Either way, safety comes first

Anyone want to buy this custom Adams boxing boots? 80 EUR/ 100 USD

Safety I'd go T3 but you also have the slightly annoying dual strap.

Yeah i thought that too, safety wise. Somewhere there was a guy on the forum that messed up his wrist due it was too stiff and didnt move.

Just got my Isami gloves in the mail. Not a very common glove, but I'm very impressed with the quality of these gloves. They are very similar to Winning, just a little bit firmer.
where did you pick these up from?
