Got these yesterday. Haven't used them yet, tommorow is the day.
RS11-V Sparring Gloves, 16 OZ.
Got these in gold 16oz. Love 'em other than the fact they are synthetic leather.
My pros
- wrist support is awesome with the padding over the cuff as well as the wrist lock. Really love that feature as I can tighten the cuffs really well and the velcro strap is wide.
- padding is moderately soft; softer than Fairtex BGV-1, bit harder than a Twin BGV3.
- hand compartment is perfect for my hands so fit is snug with hand wraps
- no issues with the thumb. I started noticing I had issues with the Fairtex BGV-1 after coming back to them from these.
- the combination of wrist and snug compartment makes my hands feel totally coddled. It's padded and aligned for punching hard like (obviously) none of the MT gloves I've had have done. When put it on, it felt just right. I've tried on Fairtex BGV9s and the Reyes hybrid training gloves and the feel of the fit on these are much better for me.
- fairly compact (equal to Fairtex BGV-1 and much better than Twins BGV3)
- feel light. I tried Hayabusa T3s on back to back and these felt lighter and just right. The T3 felt bulky and overwrought.
Dislikes;
- very hot! These come out super wet after training and for me, got smelly quickly
- I miss the feeling of a leather surface like the BGV-1s. That glove has sexy leather for me.
- Graphics are a bit much
- Obviously suboptimal for MT in clinch and catching kicks. It's a boxer's glove after all. The wrist is locked and there is no padding along the outside of the wrist like on the Fairtex. A guy at my gym also doesn't like it for catching kicks as the wrist cannot be bent. Again, not the glove as it's not for that.
- the alignment and wrist feels so good but I worry my wrists will get weaker due to the support.
Overall the next glove I am considering for pad and bag are the Rivals RB11, RB1, Guerrerros, UMA RT41s, or something laced.
