I play video games past the age of 30

Yes I love video games, I cant imagine being too old for them. But I started when I was really young with diablo 1 online and Nintendo
 
Every once in a while I’ll fire up a system. I have a 360 and a switch. I’ve thought about getting a ps5
 
I'll be 43 in three weeks and I still play video games. I'm an RPG dork
 
Fucking aye !

Playing COD cold war lately but also rotating my older consoles from NES/Master System upwards to current gen.

Also visit the arcade weekly.
 
These days, I like simpler more abstract strategy games. Video games are getting more advanced for my tastes.
 
Beat Saints Row 3 today!! Trying to beat a few PS3 games I have downloaded before getting a PS4. I recently purchased 7 PS4 games in sale for a total of $60.

I really want to buy a Nintendo 64 and play the two Zelda games but a 64 is expensive as fuck on eBay.

Yes. To me it's like asking "Do you watch movies over 30?" "Do you watch sports after 30"? It's just a form of entertainment. I don't see what age has to do with it. Games certainly appealed to mostly kids in the 80s and 90s but around 2000, I'd say they have been marketed just as much if not more to adults than kids. They are for everyone now.
 
I still do.

I typically go through stretches where I don’t play for a while though. I’ve been playing pretty consistently since Covid.

I tend to prefer to play older games as opposed to new ones. Bought an Xbox one of eBay last week. The first thing I did was started to play FF VII and Halo 2 off Xbox game pass.

the crazy thing is that I could buy like 10 ps5 if I wanted to but I mostly play my snes classic and megaman 2 on my nes classic but I spend most of my leisure time watching youtube on my TV. I havent been that much into games since like 2010 when I had an xbox 360 mostly played fifa and army of two.
 
I still play video games; I consider myself a casual gamer, but I can still "no life" sometimes and go to work on minimal amounts of sleep. Never been an online gamer and I feel I'm done chasing new consoles. Xbox One and 360 for now, might get a PS4 down the line.

I didn't mind Vampyr, I actually quite enjoyed it at the time, but it has virtually no replay. I guess I'm holding out for the VtM sequel, maybe...we'll see if it actually happens.
 
Yes, in particular the Fallout games. Fallout 3, New Vegas and Fallout 4. Never played Fallout 76.

Loved GTA 5 and Red Dead too.

Every new game gets simpler and dumbed down.

There is very little to get excited about.

The fucking bloat and nearly forced online is what's been killing gaming for me. 60+ gig install (not including day one patch, plus subsequent others down the line) and I'm progressively being locked out of features, in a single player game, if I'm not constantly connected? Fuck off with that bullshit.

I dealt with far worse hassles back in the day. Odl school PC gaming was a nightmare. Hell, I even remember "shareware" gaming.

I'd be more than happy to put up with soem bullshit if they were coming out with good games. You can pick up any random game today and start playing immediately without even looking at controls or anything as every game plays exactly the same. I'd rather play hit or miss hank that pushes the scope of what's possible and tries new and exciting ideas than the same commercial shit year after year.

I like some polished games that have great game play loops, but I'm craving something that makes me go "wow, how is that possible, I've never seen this before!?".
 
I play the odd net game and maybe someone elses console very occasionally but really I gave up on gaming by 30.

Not really due to any kind of idea that it was "immature" but I just felt I reached the end of it, growing up playign consoles that some PC games and ultimately Halflife-TFC and Starcraft online felt like they provided a real test in building skills, eventually though there was just a point were suceess was expected and no longer became fun anymore yet more standard games didnt feel like a challange enought be worthwhile, never had much interest in "games as films".

I spose you could argue taking photography seriously as a career kind of took the place of games? something I really enjoyed that offered an actual career and a chance to hopefully carry on testing myself.

Funny you mention that, because the prevalent thought in my mind, nowadays is, "If I had the patience for this horseshit, I'd have been a PC gamer." Consoles were supposed to be about plug-and-play convenience and while we've by-and-large moved past hard peripherals and accessories, we've replaced it with digital bloat.

I'm not necessarily on the same page with your other point, but again, I identify as a casual gamer. But I do see where you're coming from. I still have generally enjoyed later Bethesda and Bioware-like offerings, but I see where you're coming from with the "dumbing down" and "same-y" argument. As much as I enjoyed Morrowind when it came out, it's unplayable to me now; too much grinding, rolling and being pretty shit at everything in the beginning, I don't have the time or patience for that anymore. If I feel nostalgic, I'm more than happy to watch someone else play on YouTube or watch a lore video.
 
Yes because I am no Boomer.

But I don't do it while working kinda annoys me big time when some plays on their phone during work. Kinda immature though if you are already in your mid 30s and you still rant about video games while at work on companies time.
