Post 30. Do you still play video games

I play video games past the age of 30

Kind of sucks for people that don’t play video games. They will never have the same depth of media experience as you do with video games and will miss out on amazing stories, on that note some of the best stories I’ve ever known are from video games.
Silent Hill 2 has a killer story
Still wonder why they just didn't use that plot line for the movies. Would have been way more well received

I'm 38. I have most of the game consoles. Barely play them. I only play them when there is a game I'm interested in and those are usually remakes of old games.

I currently play a lot of Marvel Strike Force on my phone. That is my main game. I used to play Raid Shadow Legends until I found Marvel. These are easy to play games that can be played on the go. I spend too much money on these games. I've spent thousands on Raid. I spent like $200 my first few days in Marvel Strike Force. These types of games attract mostly players around my age.

Yes, but I have to admit that the urge is fading. Might be me getting older, or games getting stagnant and repetitive. Last gen, I can count a whole two games that I thought really kicked it up a notch and had me hooked from start to finish. The industry seems to be spinning its tires a bit.

No. Last system I owned was Sega Genesis. I’m close to 40.

When Playstation launched, i wanted to get one for Christmas. But I also wanted an electric guitar. Obviously couldn’t get both. My dad said, “Son. Do you want to be a guy who plays video games? Or do you want to be a guy who plays electric guitar?” I chose electric guitar.

That is some Jedi level parenting. With one question, he completely changed the trajectory of my life for the better.

I'm not post 30, just here to laugh at all the old basement dwellers with their 13-15 yr old's lifestyle while they're older than the fossils of our ancestors.

I still play, but I've slowed down a lot the last three years. But I can still get lost in a game from time and time and binge on it like I used to. Gonna start Red Dead Redemption 2 this weekend

I've lost a lot of interest in games but I don't think it's a "me" problem. Gaming has stagnated horrendously over the years. Technology keeps getting better but games keep becoming simpler and more alike.

When I played games growing up, they tried all kinds of crazy shit that pushed your imagination on what will be possible. Now the tech just gets better and better but the games all play the same and have even regressed in player agency and creativity.

A good example is going from Morrowind to Oblivion to Skyrim to Fallout 4.

Every new game gets simpler and dumbed down.

There is very little to get excited about.

I'll still play games every now and then but it's a small collection of stuff I play now.

Definitely still play. In fact, I paused a game to post in this thread. I can't imagine a future where I don't play video games. I play with my kid and I assume I'll play with my grandkids when that day comes.
Damn, I had no idea Pan. I didn't take you for the gaming type.

Oh shit I have that. It's on the list. I'm not so impressed with Vampyr so far but it's too soon to judge.
i played vampyr for about an hour then uninstalled it.
that's all i can say about it.
alien isolation is superb though

Before the covid very rarely. Now I will get in a few hours on my days off. Upgraded from a ps2 to a PS4 at Christmas and alternate between the two

Well there it is. Do you still play if your past the age of 30? Will you always play? Do you remember Duckhunt? *Raisehand*

I'm 30 and ya. I play rocket league probably once or twice a week right now. I'd probably be play more but my 1.5 year old turns the Xbox off or wants my controller or whatever so I only play when he's sleeping. Id like to get into an RPG again but I just dont think I have the free time and with another kid on the way idk when I will again. Rocket is quick 5 minute games though so I pretty much only play that.

I have an Xbox One.

I've been getting into Elite Dangerous as of late, but I play alone and I'm not sure how long I'll last on it.

I used to play a lot of Monster Hunter: World, but my joy to satisfaction ratio was skewered far to the right due to bullshit Alatreon.

GTA Online is pretty decent but it's updates are sparse and overrated. I play with one or two friends but generally leave it at that.

Fallout 76 was fun for a while, but I gave up on Game Pass, at least until I get a £1 monthly trial.

Everything else is follow the arrow.

Last game I was excited about was Cyberpunk, but I got a refund after the first act on principle. It was too broken for £50.

I'm not much of a gamer but I own a PS4 and plan on eventually buying a PS5. I play whenever a game comes out that I'm interested in until I beat it, but I'll go months at a time without gaming in between games. But when I do buy a new game, especially one I've been anticipating (like GTA) I'll play the shit out of it.

I don't see any reason to stop gaming. My generation is a gaming generation. So I'll probably be playing video games until my 80s or 90s, if I make it that far. As long as interesting games are still made. (GTA/RDR/Survival Horror)

32 here. I'm still somewhat highly ranked in Quakelive and similar arena shooter games. Every now and again, a single player game comes along that really gets me hooked. Recent examples include Zelda BOTW, Hades, Terraria, Subnautica, Hollow knight.

I fell off big time after the PS2 era. I got the wii and enjoyed it for a time, particularly a game like DK country which harkened back to my youth but I just couldn’t really find the time to keep going with other games and new consoles.

By the time everything became about playing over the internet with games like COD, I was already checked out. And it’s probably for the better. With those first person multiplayers like Perfect Dark on N64, I found myself usually camping out lol since I wasn’t as good as my friends when actively moving. I imagine I would have a piss poor record in rounds of Modern Warfare and it would discourage me lol.

I really had a hard time adapting to the one set of controls for moving the aim and one set for moving the character.

I think tes and fallout games are fantastic. As far as im concerned they can keep repeating that formula in new settings and im happy.
