Popular games you just couldn't get into?

For me it was Shadow of the Colossus, rated super high everywhere but the actual gameplay is dog shit. I finished it out of stubbornness but wouldnt reccomend it to anyone or touch it again.

Surprised by all the Witcher 3 comments, just played the next gen update (had not played before) and got lost in it. So many great stories, characters, and so much good lore. I did most of the sidequests and all the most hunts on top of the main story and thought most of it was great.

Then again, Im sure some people would think i am crazy for hating Shadow of the Colossus. Taste in games is subjective.
Agreed about SOTC, shame too because it's so beautiful. But I found the gameplay to be obnoxious.

Call of Duty. Internet too slow and didn't know it.

Never bought any Resident Evil, Tomb Raider.

I thought the boss fights were mostly decent, but the mechanics are not tight at all and can get really irritating. Innovative for the time, but the whole climbing mechanic is so bloody tedious. Climb, climb, climb, stop and struggle, climb, climb, climb, stop and struggle...oh' you fucked up? Do it all again. That said, I get the appreciation for their vision at that time.

"Team Ico" got away with some bullshit back in the day in the name of "art" in both "Ico" and "SOTC"(they aren't great "games"), but I think it all came to a head in their most recent game that few gave a fuck about(and was one of the most hyped games ever), since all the fawning over their "artistic vision" had dried up, because games like "Dark Souls" were able to deliver on the gameplay front on top of making the artsy fartsy crowd cream their pants. That said, you gotta walk before you run.

Another mention; Dying Light 2. What a waste of a nice game. 2nd time now I am trying to get into and I just can't. Purely melee combat with useless bow/crossbow is just not enough. I liked guns variety thrown into the mix. In original Dying Light I never saw guns as first choice but addition to escape difficult situations and this is what kept me going. Big no.

God of war
All soul games or that have similar gameplay
Witcher 3

Resident evil games after the original trilogy. I have attempted to play RE4 on many different occasions, but find the gameplay and direction just not interesting … there aren’t even any zombies ffs. I have no idea why it became popular.

FIFA. Sure, the graphics are good, but I find Pro Evo Soccer has waaaaay better gameplay.

The Zelda series … just never really got into this series, but it looks like a good series.

Devil May Cry series … I completed the first one when I was younger and had a lot of fun with it. Got some catching up to do!

Kingdom Hearts series. Again, I completed the first one when I was younger and it’s a low key masterpiece! … I just wasn’t interested in any of the sequels.

Interesting to see witcher 3 and rdr2 mentioned the most.

Witcher just got me by paralysis by analysis. Too much shit. Didnt know what to use, keep, save, etc.

Rdr2, i hated the beginning but once out of the snow, i was in my own world. So much to do, but i knew how to use what i had. I still havent done everything once Mexico opens up because everytime, im bored by then.

Hollow Knight is another repeater and i too couldnt get into it. Not enough shit going on in the beginning to hook me, so i bailed.

Recently, i found myself getting bored at Evil West. The acting sucks and things feel stiff. May tough it out, but im sorry i wasted $ on it.

Yeah, I really enjoyed RDR2. The last two chapters (the epilogue) were my favorite parts of the story.
