Popular games you just couldn't get into?

Games that rely too much on cut scenes, I hate feeling like I'm waiting to play the game. The MGS series is notorious for this (and I ended up liking the gameplay of 5 the most as it made you feel the most in control of the gameplay environment).

Monster Hunter. On paper it should be right up my ally but I never could get into the controls. Looks awesome to watch though.
Grand Theft Auto. I prefer every other Rockstar game to it by a country mile.

Company of Heroes series.

As much as I like strategy/ww2 games, I just couldnt get into that one for whatever reason. Neither Warhammer Total War. I have played living soul out of Civ5 and AoE 3 which is more advanced than any other age game.

Idk, looking forward for age of mythology remake.

It is always resident evil. I think it's because I played it as a little kid and I got scared. I have all the remakes but I never really played it.

Dark Souls and all souls-likes. I find the way they tell the lore to the player half-assed. Especially DS1.
I dislike the riposte mechanics. Like, you riposte a humanoid boss strike, proceed to disembowel him, his animation shows life essence leaving his body, but then a clunky normal animation kicks in, he gets up and proceeds to fight as if nothing happened. That is bullshit.
I dislike the combat rolls.
Not my type of game at all.

Witcher 3.

I have to start a story at the beginning. Not completing Witcher 1 (was about half way through years ago but got stuck on a bug) and 2 beforehand just bothered me too much.

I have to echo everyone who has said Witcher 3 in here. At one point it seemed that people were foaming at the mouth to describe it as the greatest game ever but that seems to have died down these days. By no means a bad game, but didn't do it for me as 'great' status.

100% agree, always put on my flame suit when I bad mouth this game though the fan base are pretty rabid.
Careful. Dizzy will go ape shit on you. He would fuck that story based game.

Oh wow, this is a great idea for a thread.

Off the top of my head:
RDR2
Resident Evil 7 and 8
Any Battle Royale game
Persona series
Borderlands
Divinity: Original Sin
Hollow Knight
Escape From Tarkov
Runescape
GTA series
Pretty much any "survival" game such as The Forest or 7 Days to Die.

Third person view games that require a controller two analog sticks for movement and camera angle positioning.

Resting position of both my hands holding a controller for both analog sticks and top buttons is extremely uncomfortable.

I've tried to get into Witcher 3 a few times but the game just seems overwhelming. I have so little time for gaming nowadays that I find myself just going back to tried and true series that I'm already familiar with.

I know I gotta give it an honest chance though. Someday I'll make a point of sticking with it.

RDR2, I spent my playthrough being bored at the repetitive quests and gameplay settings.
