I’m surprised Marino and Elway that high

How the hell is brees not on everyone's list. I would 100% put him ahead of rogers all time.

Brady
Montana
Peyton
Brees
Elway

I went with the 4 best I've watched and Johnny U because my father will find out somehow if I don't (and because he was the original great throwing QB).

Marino
Manning
Rodgers
Elway
Unitas

Tarketon should be up there. He is top ten material.
Absolutely.

Most people won't vote for older QBs because they weren't old enough to watch them play. There'll be a lot of stat comparison even though the game was so much different before the 80s than it is today. Tarkenton still has some amazing stats considering his era. Bradshaw wont get a ton of votes but since people love to measure success with a QB, its hard to argue against him.

Jeff George
Rodney Peete
Jay Cutler
Bubby Brister
Rex Grossman

Montana was magical, I've never seen a quarterback consistently hit the receivers in stride like he could. He's still my goat.

Growing up in the 80s, I got to see all these guys first hand. As a 49er fan, Montana will always be the greatest to me because he won 4 SBs and maybe would've won more if they didn’t trade him. IMO he could’ve beaten that 92 Cowboys team in the NFC championship game in SF. However, as good as he was and as good as Marino and Elway and even Favre were, I’ve never seen anyone as good as Rodgers.

Arm strength as good as anyone yet with accuracy that’s better than everyone. He won a chip with a 6th seeded team that had no business doing anything. I don’t think people realize just how bad some of those recent packer teams were and he was taking them well into the playoffs and championship games. When Rodgers broke his collarbone a few years ago, that Packers team that was in the NFC Championship game the prior year had to go to OT to beat a Browns team that went 1-31 in those two years. The guy was basically singlehandedly beating everyone except for the very best teams. He might not have the gross stats that Brees has but he’s got the ones that translate to individual contribution, like the all-time leader in passer rating and an incredible 4/1 TD - INT ratio. Plus he can read defenses as well as anyone ever has.

People are losing their minds about Mahomes and he’s awesome but he’s got what are arguably the best players at their positions to help him out. Rodgers was doing everything Mahomes is doing but with inferior talent. If only the Niners had done the right thing and selected Rodgers with the #1 pick instead of Alex Smith.

Brees/Brady(honestly not sure their goat resumes are close to being polar opposites)
Rodgers
Elway
Peyton

I feel there's 6 no brainer top 5 QB's(in this poll anyway) and 5 spots and this thread's telling you who everyone thinks number 6 is. For me number 6 was Montana but for a lot of people are going to put Brees as the worst cause despite having the most consistent elite stats of the group, he's got the worst resume of the group in terms of rings/awards. There's also the haters who credit his success to playing in a dome. Think the gap between 1-6 on this list is small af though every all time great QB's resume in football has flaws.

Montana's my number 6 just because he had the most of the group to work with, played with Jerry Rice most of his prime and had a stacked team in general(on both sides of the ball). The way Steve Young stepped into that system and contended showed while Montana was great they didn't necessarily succeed because of him. Bill Walsh also was a really good coach. The "it was a different game their stats aren't going to be great" thing doesn't work as well when we consider Montana was playing in a very modern offense. On the surface his stats compare very well to QB's in his era but when you add context they really don't IMO(look at what Elway and Marino had on offense most of their careers).

Also I think it's very likely Mahomes and Russell Wilson will be 1-2 on this list in 5 years.
