Media Poirier vs Holloway 3

To be fair he lost 3 straight split decision in his 4 fight losing streak but ironically won a split decision against maxhole and won 7 in a row at one point. Weird career for sure but I do agree he wasn't BMF caliber

Would have to rewatch them but pretty sure he got robbed in a least 2 of them too.
Making up for robbing Max I guess?

Poirier looked very slow vs Islam and he fought with a damaged rib.
His hips were shot for years, that's why he couldn't sprawl properly and went guilly every damn time the last years.
His shoulder needed surgery and his nose got re damaged badly.

He wasn't in his prime and around 36 vs Max with a couple of injuries he took care of after his retirement.
His prime ended around 2023, damage wise like 2021

Idk … Portier looked increíble vs Islam just before this.m
Maybe the difference this time was that Max actually looked like a real LW in there.
Maybe. Maybe all those wars (not even counting the gym wars) finally took their toll as they always do.

I dunno about incredible, he fought well but was def slowing down at points as the fight got long

FOTY for me. Holloway's combos looked lightning quick and his kicks were really nice, Poirier cracking Max with some bombs like he usually does. Amazing retirement for DP, one of my favorite fighters and one of the best to never win a UFC title, with one of the best fightography's ever.

compared to how he looked vs Islam
Vs everyone else save for Volk 1

He looked incredible.

Islam makes everyone else look too easy including a guy on a long win streak and champ at a higher weight class.
