He has a better chance at striking with Topuria than Max. Because he has a good jab with some pop and 3 more inches in reach than Max.
Ilia is better in grappling, but Dustin has a size advantage here. He recently made it to 5 rounds with Islam and survived 5'11 BSD.

Ilia has of course even crisper boxing and way better defense. But that size factor would be in there.

I feel like this fight excites Poirier and will get him training hard.

Ilia cuts too easy for my liking. Maybe because he cuts weight with red wine.

I'm a huge Dustin fan and will ride with him against anyone. I get him being excited for this matchup but I just don't feel it's a good idea.at this point in his career taking a guy like Topuria even with some advantages.
