Poatan is not big enough for 205.

As another poster put it , it will be the wrestling /grappling of the LHWs that he will have issue with. Alex is a big strong guy.

In the old LHW division with prime Cormier, Gus, Bader, jones and so on, I think he would get run him out of the division. In todays division I see him having problems wth the guys who can grapple.

He would have had the same issues at 185 if dudes like Jacare or Tim Kennedy had been around. Dragged him down and lights out. Fortunately I think the UFC will continue to allow him to avoid grapplers and I'm being serious. I think they like him and feed him strikers for the time being.

Anderson Silva did not look outsized against Forrest and Bonnar at 205 and he's smaller than Pereira.

He's gonna look like he is a 205'er when the time comes
Anderson fighting 3 slow sloppy brawler/strikers with limited to no offensive wrestling (including Irvine) was never at risk of being outsized. When he fought a wrestler at 205 in DC it was a foregone conclusion he would get wrestle-fncked and he did.
Alex will be fine IMO as the UFC LHW division is a barren wasteland when it comes to wrestlers right now.

Alex is a pretty big guy. There are pictures and he is as big as some LHWs or smaller HWs. He doesn't have the grappling chops though. His size doesn't mean anything when he can't grapple. If anything it helps people get to his legs easier since he is so tall.

That was his weight on fight day. Dude hydrates like a sponge. Like, the title of the thread you pointed to literally says "Cage Weight" but even that I think Poatan himself said it was around 219 LBs.

..but to answer your question, the walk around weight comes from Poatan himself. It was in his Instagram Stories a few months prior to the Izzy fight.

226 LBs in this one which is equivalent to 102.5 KG.

The truth is we dont really know til we see him at 205,but he is absolutley gigantic for 185.
I think 205 is probably his best weight. I’m not so sure size is the issue but rather where his MMA skills are at. Looking forward to seeing him get tested in other areas besides pure kickboxing.

Last I checked the current LHW champ got submitted by Paul Craig. He should be fine.

Actually he knocked him out in the first round (technically speaking). Craig has some quality wins on his resume. Very unique fighter.

Jon's legs are very skinny and he happens to be the greatest of all time lol
Jones has the upper body of a HW and the lower body of a MW. He’s literally the perfect size for LHW. He weight cuts were never strenuous.

I like how he is completley hostile to his opponents before the fight. Guy isnt there to mess around. You pay to see this!
