Different breeds were bred for different physical and behavioral traits, and people buy different breeds for different reasons. I think almost all dogs can be rehabilitated by someone who knows what they are doing, but a lot of dog owners don't know what they are doing. It really depends on the owner, how that person/family interacts with the dog, and how that dog views himself in that pack.

You can put the dog in its place in your own home if you know what you're doing, but even then it's dangerous to others.

I had a pit aggressively come at my 7 year old (then) daughter. Had I not been right there, I think it would have attacked.

wow, that person sounds like the stereotypical person we are talking about in this thread tho. The bleeding heart liberal, who thinks she gonna save the world by getting pit bulls. Red tape is usually there for a reason. Hopefully she doesnt end up in one of these threads. Awesome personal insight tho that proves everything about pitbulls and their owners. Most of the victims are children and it makes no fucking difference what attacks them unless it's a freaking poodle or some other small dog. You are essentially saying it's ok that one dog bites because it cannot kill, which is something you are pulling out of your ass and is an incredibly stupid statement to make. You can either understand the statistics you are regurgitating or you cannot.

Banning breeds is ineffective, get over it.

Banning them is effective if you eradicate the breed. Door to door, find anything that resembles anything with bully characteristics and officers shoot it on site. Problem will eventually be solved.

My stepdads niece had her face ripped off by a pit bull at campsite when she reached in a cooler for a soda. Ripped her cheek off and you could see her teeth. The dog was hanging around the campsite all weekend. She got paid but her face now looks weird from the surgeries.

The biggest and most dangerous trucks are vastly more regulated than the ones slightly larger and about as dangerous as cars. Owners are also charged with things like manslaughter when said trucks kill people.

Cool. Say that then. Call for a pitbull registry. Call for classes you need to own a pitbull. Charge people with manslaughter in the rare event their dog kills someone.

Please, stop being anti-liberty in the name of the illussion of safety.

Not only is banning pitbulls a bad idea in terms of precedent, it wouldn't work. People would just ignore the law, and if you start arresting people for it, that is a complete waste of limited resources.

I bought into the locking-jaws babykiller nonsense before my wife picked one up from the shelter. I was very leery. Fast forward 14 years and you see the biggest goofball lovable dog in the world. Gentle and kind. Everyone loved him. He died a couple of years ago before my son was born. But I would have trusted him completely.

2 weeks ago my wife was visiting her family in California. Her sister got a pitmix thinking it would be like ours. It wasn't. It had already attacked their other dog a couple of times. That dog would never be left alone or near my son. I expressed considerable concern to my wife about the situation. A pit that exhibited aggressive behavior is not trustworthy. I didn't want that dog in the same room as my kid.

This. I have a friend that is really into Shiba Inu's. Just got his second.

He had previously gotten a 2nd one he returned. He bought it from a box store in a mall.

That dog was fucking nuts. Apparently if you remove Shiba's from their mother before 8 weeks, 9 out of 10 times they will be absolutely loopy.

No one gives a shit about a dangerous Shiba, because they weigh 20 lbs.

I just wish the anti-pitbull people weren't such fat mouthed liars, or willingly ignorant. That is what pisses me off about their Ilk.
