Pit bull attacked my dog

Science is the end all be all regarding knowledge today, until it suggests something which offends someone. At that point, we revert to, " Nah, bro, my sister's two pits are totally friendly. Inherited traits are BS."

Breeding means nothing....
English setters and German short haired pointers excelling at bird hunting. ......pure coincidence.

Labrador RETRIEVERS and their innate obsession with RETRIEVING. .......all nurture and no nature.

I'd like one of the " its all in how you raise them" guys to prove everyone wrong and raise a few pits to be competive field trial dogs.

Not sure where you're going with this. Are you literally saying that certain physical or mental traits can't be chosen with selective breeding?

I was agreeing with your post. Everyone can admit that certain breeds excel at certain things because of intentional breeding. This common and obvious knowledge comes to a screeching halt when certain breeds come up though.

Ok, I see. Never actually thought of it from that standpoint, but you have a valid point...

We need more pit bull bashing threads. We should all go out and and hope to find a pit bull so we can share our own horror stories. But next time maybe we post pics and shit so maybe someone won't think it may be fictional.

sorry i was too busy trying to save my dog to stop to document it in case i wanted to share later on sherdog

(un)fortunately, i dont even have to go looking for pit bulls to run into horror stories. next time i wont tell anyone to keep up peoples illusions

Another Pit Bull attack. This time the Pit Bull lost.

http://fox6now.com/2015/04/02/woman...-were-attacked-by-a-pit-bull-in-dodge-county/

"A citizen was driving by and was able to restrain the pit bull on the ground while waiting for emergency responders. The pit bull died."

this is exactly what i was talking about

1) the margin of error of restraining a pitbull. even if they kept it leashed in public like others said, this dog escaped from the backyard. you have to train them to behave even when you arent physically forcing them too because its impossible to physically restrain them 24/7 with no chance of error

2) I was able to save my dog but my first thought was "if i was a woman, or young child and/or my dog was a small breed. i couldnt have prevented catastrophic damage". this case exemplifies what i was talking about, it was a woman with a dachshund and they were helpless until a third party came and saved them

absolutely terrifying and avoidable if the owner wouldve had a gentler breed

pit bulls are the Muslims of the dog world.

religion of peace; gentle dogs.

Did you read the bit where the dog nipped a small boy and caused bleeding/bruising through a thick jacket?

I love pitbulls, but an an untrained pit should NOT be walked by a little girl who doesnt even have the strength to hold it in place. Come on man, its common sense.

So you're criticizing the parents for allowing their daughter to be pulled around by a large dog? Because I agree with that.

The other problem is that there are people who take pride in their dogs beating other dogs in a fight. I remember talking to this one asshole bragging about how tough his dog was. He was telling me some story about how this one dog had a reputation for being tough at the dog park until his dog kicked that dog's ass. What kind of retard takes pride in their dog fighting at a public dog park?

I imagine it's be tough refraining from punching that guy right in the teeth. What a dick.

Also, the level of expectation from some of you guys on how much discernment pitbull owners can/would/should use is naive as fuck.

Also, stories like this make me weary of getting a dog myself, if I were put in that situation. I'm only about 165 and haven't trained martially in several years. I don't know that I'd be able to fend off the thing.

I defend them from broad assumptions and bad information. Other than that, I'm very honest about how big a responsibility they are to own. Just because I know she'll never hurt anyone doesn't mean I'm nonchalant about being vigilant. All dog owners should be as good as I am.

I think I got dumber reading this post.

Why would you possibly be vigilant against something you proclaim to know wouldn't happen? That's a fairly serviceable definition of insanity.

I don't want to deal with people's attitudes when I'm out with my dogs. Also if another dog starts some shit and mine fucks it up, who's gonna get blamed? Me. I watch my dogs and the dogs around them just in case. Its not that hard to understand. You slow bro?

You're contradicting yourself. You said "never hurt anyone" not "never hurt someone who doesn't start shit and deserves to get fucked up.

Just in case the thing you know would never happen, happens?

About the level of reason I would expect

I don't know why I'm bothering trying to educate a pit bull owner on a mma website. I'm sure this is a futile endeavour.

Wow, gonna pull the "thats not what you literally typed" card?

People say they wouldn't kill anyone. Put them in a kill or be killed situation and that changes.

See how that works?

The worst thing about owning a dog is parents and other dog owners. Once in awhile you will come across a parent (usually a mother) who tells their kids to go and pet your dog. That isn't too bad.

The worst thing is another owner with an out of control dog. The best thing you can do is make sure to properly socialize your dog when it's a puppy. My dog was abused and is extremely timid and often times it is his disposition that causes him to be attacked. If he were more social he probably wouldn't be attacked as much.

But you didn't say kill or be killed, you said start shit and then my dog fucks it up.

Hardly the same thing. And also speaks quite clearly to your attraction to these animals in the first place. I'm sure your dog is super tough, bro. You must be hard as fuck, too.

I don't get it. If another dog attacks my dog, you want my dog to just sit there and take it?
