Pit bull attacked my dog

Another benefit about living in a nice neighborhood is that you don't have to worry about idiots with pits. That's a poor person's dog. I can walk my bullmastiff without having to worry about some dumb poor person's dog trying to attack mine.

Glad your dog was ok, TS

As a dog owner it troubles me stuff like this happens. I really hate when others walk their dogs off lead - I keep my dog on a lead, even when we go out for a jog. I have a pretty big German Shepherd, and she's aloof with people she doesn't know and doesn't really get along with other dogs, because she got into a few scraps as a puppy.

So when your dog comes bounding over to me, it puts me in a very uncomfortable position when the owner is yelling "Oh it's cool, he's alright with dogs" and I have to yell to them "Mine isn't, now get your dog away". It's not nice for me and it's not nice for my dog to have some stranger come bounding up in her face - and if she goes to bite the dog that invaded her space, she'd be considered at fault in spite of her being on the lead.

yeah, when i am out in the bush, in big bear or out in trabuco, i take my dog off leash and she acts 100% the same (she may walk a few more yards to the side but I can just tell her to walk at my heel if I want), but i still keep her on the leash just to comply with the law and make everyone else comfortable

even then, when i see dogs off leash at the park, I ask the owner if theyre ok with my dog playing before i let penny loose. I've never had anyone say no, but it seems it should be common courtesy before i let my dog run over to them.

i dont know if your dog has medical issues, or is being trained a certain way, so i just give a simple of "is your dog friendly? do you mind if they play?"

pic related, penny made a friend at the park that way

If she's on leash and the other dog isn't, in anywhere but an off-leash area - she isn't at fault. And then you let her bang, bro.

This

My hood is populated with physicians, attorneys, lower level executive's ect and its all labs , golden retrievers , pointers , poodles ect.

Like flies to a rump roast the poor are to pit bulls

Glad you and your pup are ok. I think many of these dog attacks can be avoided if the owner acts like a motorcycle rider and constantly scans his surroundings, especially for owners of big dogs. Dude was probably texting or something when the pit got loose.

I have a min pin and I'm constantly scanning the area, because my dog is a bad, bad bitch. haha No, I scan to make sure nothing creeps up on her.

There are pit bulls in Orange County?

yeah, even in nice areas because of bleeding heart types who adopt them from the shelter (shelters are overflowing with them from people in santa ana/garden grove/westminster etc.)

It's a self feeding cycle-idiot hipsters hear about how pits get a bad wrap, decide they MUST buy one to prove all dogs are the same, then the pit population goes up; of course so do the attacks and their bad rep increases. Which triggers the hipsters' insatiable urge to prove it wrong.

is this the same dog taht jumped over the thing in the other thread and won you the adoration of those immigrants?
if so, im sorry man, that dog sounded pretty neat.

Pit bulls are not bad dogs, it was the owner who was a bad owner
Pit bull Terriers are hardwired this way into their very core.
You can be the best owner in the world , experienced and who trained it from birth as a puppy and they might still snap one day.

There is a reason you hear so many "We raised him from birth and he never showed any signs of.......before this incident"

Hundreds of good owners will no doubt come to their defense and blame other owners, but the fact of the matter is, they are hardwired. You might as well have a pet wolf.

But you didn't say kill or be killed, you said start shit and then my dog fucks it up.

Hardly the same thing. And also speaks quite clearly to your attraction to these animals in the first place. I'm sure your dog is super tough, bro. You must be hard as fuck, too.
yup. You are wasting your time.

Usually these pit Bull evangelists make appearances of trying to be normal family men who would restrain their dogs and try to save them from having to fight. We just ran into a typical true attitude here, not even trying to mask the fact that he is proud of his pet wolf.
