I have a theory, that if I start playing ping pong a lot and get better at it, then my reflexes would improve and that would help me improve with standup defense.

Think about it, the coordination and reflexes it takes to be good at ping pong is monumental, it makes me think of Anderson Silva. I bet he plays ping pong.

Also I have another theory, people say if you don't chew enough your body won't get all the nutrients the food provides, so if I want to cut down on calories while eating steak, I would just chew it less!

I think the best way to improve your standup is to auctually do it.
But if you are correct, then the more cs i play the more strikes i can dodge.

umm, not chewing well puts pressure on your digestive system, so it ain't good for ya. plus the less you get out of the food you eat, the more your body will tell you to ear. why don't you just eat less?

O.k forgot the chewing thing, kind of a joke.

Sort of serious about the ping and the pong one though. Those guys just react to something coming their way so fast.

Wtf? Ping pong doesn't have anything to do with being good at standup, it has to do with being good at tennis! Chances are if you're good at tennis, you'll be good at ping pong.

And your second theory is ridiculous as well.

naw, it improves your reflexes and hand eye coordination...the not chewing i meant

it would improve your hand-eye coordination but i highly doubt your hand speed would go up from playing ping pong.. plus the movements are nothing alike

I was thinking more of just reflexes/reaction. Like how A. Silva was dancing around while Rich Franklin was trying to punch him in their second fight.

Damn its late.

i would disagree with the statement, just because they both use a racket type of equipment with a net doesn't mean its the same thing

One of my trainer's favorite hobbies is playing Table Tennis. He likes the fast hand-eye coordination required, and how fast you have to think to be good at it. He equates it to placing jabs well.

I play pretty good and challenged him, his eyes lit up.

You use the same basic swing motions to spin the ball certain ways, just with a smaller swing. When I was on the tennis team in high school, everyone on the tennis team was also great at ping pong, though anyone hardly every played.

I challenge any of you to a ping pong match.

"They said world peace was in our hands...All I did was play ping pong.."

Forrest Gump was a world champ and is an American hero!

I'm going outside in 90 degree weather to play now.... with my dogs....

Where the fuck do I go to play table tennis, I have a table but no decent opponents.

Is there an asian community in your city? I'm serious...

I challenge you to actually bring your eyebrows to Vegas, and I'll beat them off ya in the ring and on the ping pong table.

Winner gets a bottle of his choice? So, Jamesons for me, and that banana stuff for you?

I drink Jack more times than not.

Play for eyebrows.

I'm down with this, too.
