Well the guinea pig was put to sleep by my old vet at my place around 12.30pm today.
The previous midnight was the first time the gp starting eating a few spinach leaves of her own accord which was great, but her injury never improved and she just couldn't walk.
She kept toppling over, couldn't clean herself, couldn't grasp food. Her quality of life was crap!
I got Jackie[the vet] to give her a sedation injection first and then 5 minutes later she was given the big fatal one which i think gets injected into an organ. She didn't squeak or show she was in pain so hopefully she was ok.
My first vet when i started keeping pet rats would just shove the needle with the fatal juice in it right into the rat's heart[or try anyway] and it was awful. My very first rat 'Stranglers' really screamed when he did this to her, it was so awful.
Back then i knew nothing about this type of thing, i didn't have a computer. Once i did get one i got so much info from various rat forums and discovered the way that vet was euthanizing the animals was very painful.
I found a much more caring vet after that. Having it done at home makes a bad situation a little bit better for the owner and for the animal.
Even tho' i only met the gp a few days ago it did kinda upset me tbh, holding the little thing in my hand while she died.
The day before she actually fell asleep in that same hand! She was very trusting and never once tried to bite me.
Fuck the owner of the poor guinea pig!
I'm gonna try and put some pics on this post, may not work.
