Phil Baroni: No Weights?

Perphaps he's doing plyometrics as part of his interval training with the cardio.

Plyometrics do not add (or maintain) mass.

Bottom line: you don't get to be Baroni's size without roids or weights.

Well...maybe he's a genetic freak, but that's a stretch.

a huge chunk of gymnasts lift weights also.
Look at their physiques and physical strength. I would say its a given.

he is the best eva eva so that could explain alot

He doesn't lift in prep for a fight.
He's a former bodybuilder so he's going to hang on to alot of that.
Stop bitchin about his comments.

being a gymnast i can tell you that when you're competeing, all your time is spent in the gymnasium, not in the lifting gym. yes, we do have guys that go to the gym to lift, but they don't compete. we do some weighted exercises in preparation, but not many. maybe 5%(or less) of the work we do will be with extra weight, but it's not encouraged by our coaches. the majority of work is done with bodyweight.

try doing front lever pull ups; even dips on the rings; muscle-ups. then when you get into drills for maltese on rings, you start working with boxes and stuff. there's not much weighted work, just body weight.

i wasn't trying to be an asshole by posting this, i'm just telling you what i've experianced in my gym.

If I recall correctly for the preparation of his first pride fight someone posted a video of his workout and in the first segment he was doing up right dumbell rows! He is defenitley on the juice and lifts weights. Some people mentioned wrestlers being "big and ripped" yeap the ones that obviously lift and use roids such as Coleman and randallman...wrestlers that depend on grappling to build muscles and are not on drugs like Couture, Hughes or lindland (spelling?) have an all together different kind of body despite the fact that they were much more succesfull in their wrestling carriers.

I just read an interview on insidefighting.com where he specificaly stated that he lifts weights. Anyhow he has a new conditioning coach which he apearantly felt whery happy with.

yes of corse , i mean , you only gain strength , mass and size by taking steroids and bodybuilding ............ everyone knows that ... right ?? right ????

Intense workouts often release a lot of HGH making people look more ripped.
