This will squarely land me in the "UFC shill" category for some of the more spirited pure haters out there, but I get giggles when they spout off about UFC and how all these places are going to take over, while totally disregarding the fact that if not for UFC and the years of work they did with state regulators, this shit would still be illegal in many places.

They literally talk about how UFC is killing the sport while totally ignoring the ways UFC paved the way for these other, newer orgs.

Yeah, UFC needs to do better in a lot of places, but denying them being the reason the shit is what it is today is hate driven, head-in-the-sand denial.

everything is speculation but it's an interesting and much needed shake up at this point. Jake Paul brings in viewers. Ngannou remains to be seen, but acquiring the greatest current HW champ is a huge feather in their cap. The real question is, how is UFC performing under ESPN's view? How does ESPN view PFL's performance? What is their current deal for both organizations? It would be more interesting if ESPN decided not to renew UFC's contract and went full force showing PFL to the masses. Probably won't happen considering UFC had their most successful year, but not sure how the deals are structured with PFL / UFC. If PFL can do just enough to maintain hype, and if Jake Paul / Ngannou can actually deliver, then we are looking at a different landscape for the foreseeable future. It really depends on the performances of these newly signed fighters. Time will tell. and Pride FC was the best of all time.

I'd love to see UFC crumble under the weight of their decisions, but it's a long way down and I don't see it happening any time soon. They've got a fanbase full of lemmings who love everything they put out and forums full of sycophants who will defend anything they do.

I wish they were taking over but I doubt the UFC will allow it. Fair enough PFL signed the HW champ, but he's nearly 40 and isn't a huge draw. The UFC will be fine with Jones as their champ.

Everyone keeps talking about the pay at PFL but as long as I can remember, whenever a promotion tries to come out and rival the UFC for pay etc, they end up worse off or folding altogether.

In other words, one promotion spends money on actually promoting and the other doesn't. And you wonder why PFL's gate and ratings are abysmal. PFL's strategy of maximizing fighter pay while minimizing marketing cost, so you end up with a overpaid roster of UFC rejects with nobody paying to watch them is such a genius business move, if the goal is to see how fast you can go under.
