I'm not familiar with the ethnicities of Dagestan/Caucasus region. Has there been migration from Central Asia or East Asia to that region? I also couldn't help but notice Baki looks like he could be part Asian.

Umar broke his hand almost 12 weeks ago. Broken hands heal in half that time, usually. Even badly broken hands would typically be healed by now. Yan probably assumed umar was good to go.

Yeah sure but since the surgery Umar has been open with the timeline for his return being August at the earliest. Maybe Yan didn't know that but if he did and still called him out expecting him to fight in June it's wack imo.

Hopefully Yan reconsiders. I think the wait would be worth it cause other than Umar I don't see compelling fights for Yan just a bunch of rematches.

I didn't know that and I'm a pretty big fan of MMA. I doubt Yan knew either unless he looks around for Umar news. I think Yan really wants to be on the azerbaijan card, and I don't blame him. First time ever in Azerbaijan, and it's close to his home country. He seems willing to fight anyone as long as it lines up with his schedule. Personally, I'd like to see Yan vs. Umar, but it's understandable that yan would like to stay active.

I'm all for fighters being active but I don't want to miss out on this matchup. If Yan fights in June and wins this fight is dead. He would essentially be next in line for a titleshot and would have no incentive to fight Umar. Makes sense for him but I selfishly would rather he wait out so we can get to watch this banger matchup.

Yan has a pretty damn strong list of fighters in a row since faber..

Faber, Aldo, Sterling, Sandhagen, Sterling, O'Malley, Merab, Song, Figgy, Umar

Talk about a murderer's row. I expect him to lose, but he's looked decent against everyone but Merab. For only winning 3 of his last 7, 1 DQ, 2 split decisions, 1 real bad loss. Yan's kind of underrated. Only non-champs are Sandhagen, Song, and Umar, but still plenty of time for them to be champ.

Yan has already fought the number 3 guy in his last fight, he should be the number 1 guy, it's a bit silly they make a match up like this.

I think Umar vs Bautista and petr either just waits, or fights down against a big name where he'd be a favourite Like I dunno, Cejudo for example, just to keep him paid up.

I see no reason to Gaurantee a loss between them, There are other match ups to make.
