Social Pete Hegseth futher limits press' abilities to report on the Pentagon raising transparency concerns

What should be the absolute qualifications to run it? What are the big catastrophic errors Hegseth has made so far, due to his supposed "lack of qualifications" for the job?
Leaking war plans was pretty bad, but since you can accept $50,000 bribes and still keep your job in Trumps administration, I guess in the scheme of things, leaking war plans is not a big issue.

I appreciate that. I really try not to throw insults around, I find I have better conversations and learn more about people’s positions when I don’t throw mud. I might not agree but I like knowing what the other side of the issue sounds like
Damn, I guess I’m still a dumb-fuck.

He’s right.

Show proof that’s why Trump picked him, Trump picked Vance he called Hitler.
Fox News pundit:

Tim Parlatore, Gallagher’s attorney, told POLITICO that Fox News and Hegseth deserve credit for presenting the case on Trump’s favored network. “Whether or not people believe Fox News, the president took the time to listen to another perspective rather than solely relying on the Navy’s view,” Parlatore said.

Author:
Trump said that Hegseth’s recent book “The War on Our Warriors” played a role in his pick. “The book reveals the leftwing betrayal of our Warriors, and how we must return our Military to meritocracy, lethality, accountability, and excellence,” Trump added.

Tulsi, RFK , Jacob , Scott to name a few dems … bring out that intellectual honesty bro , this isn’t the Portland thread
whataboutism.

Logically we have a guy who had a middling career at best in the military and a failed political career. He was kicked off the two veterans charities he worked for. He also was on trumps favorite news station daily for 8 years. Why do you think Trump picked him?

Damn, you got me. A do-nothing officer turned drunken talking head. It’s a disgrace.

I mean, doesn’t the right say the same thing about all the leftists and their credentials?

Nothing you stated makes him special by any means. He’s just a fucking mouth.
Honestly his getting hammered and kicked out of places along with cheating on his spouse is the most “army infantry” thing he could do. Might as well get a dui while driving a dodge charger purchased within walking distance of an army base at 23% interest

Makes total sense a fat old man with a neck vagina, would buy the bullshit written in The War on our Warriors.

So Tim said that , Trump said...

But he liked more what he put in his book.

I asked AI for a few examples what negative things, he said about Trump on Fox.

March 2016Fox News appearance discussing Trump's foreign policy comments (e.g., on NATO and military strategy)"It’s typical Trump, all bluster, very little substance... He talks a tough game. But then when pressed on it, he’s an armchair tough guy. I hate to say it, but this is a guy who said that John McCain is not a war hero." Hegseth emphasized Trump's lack of nuance, saying he relied on TV shows like Meet the Press for military advice rather than real expertise.October
2015Fox News segment on Trump's debate performance and military knowledge"You wouldn’t want a top-tier presidential candidate getting all of their military advice from watching ‘Meet the Press.’ There’s a lot more nuance. There’s a lot more detail." This was part of broader doubts about Trump's grasp of complex issues like ISIS strategy.

As for whataboutism it matter in this context, there is a lot of whataboutism, doesn't make it not true.

I think Trump picked him but his way of thinking and what he was talking about in his book with the military, DUI and things like that. Is he some over qualified pick ? no, not even close. What he said last week about fat generals and people in the halls of pentagon was ridiculous, I think at a certain rank if they are overweight that is fine. I will take a overweight expert over a dumbass fit person.

Appreciate the convo

Defense Secretary Hegseth requires new 'pledge' for reporters at the Pentagon

The Pentagon is implementing new guidelines that will require journalists to sign a pledge and agree to report only approved and officially released information.

If you cannot see the playbook here you are either stupid or you are part of the destruction of Democracy.

Just another part of the great plan for MAGA Dictatorship. I’m sure his trained seals will clap and applaud as usual….

It’s crazy to think we are living in what will be in history books as the downfall of American Democracy.

fun fact, we had a war to get rid of these nazi cock suckers.

Ideally an Annapolis grad. Someone with Experience at the top of the militaries leadership org chart. Years spent as an ATSD or deputy secdef.

His push ups and pull ups were crimes against god. He accidentally gave war plans to a journalist. He flew the entire leadership of our military into one place for a pep rally. He used his personal cellphone to provide his wife, brother and lawyer with classified information about imminent airstrikes on Houthi targets in Yemen. Other than that we could argue back and forth about him sending the military into us cities to quell protests without the governors asking him to would count, but that would be a battle of our two different opinions and realities, neither would change the others mind. Changing the military’s policy of “don’t share anything we say is classified” to, “don’t share anything unless we say you can”.

Been a rough 6 months for pete
And bearing in mind that "signal gate" alone should've gotten him bounced

Literally zero percent chance Trump actually read his book.

I doubt he did his highschool reading assignments let alone actually purchase and read a book for fun.
