News Peanut The Squirrel Seized and Euthanized By State

How we ever let bureaucrats and government become this powerful is stunning. As a note, squirrels were common pets in the U.S.A. pre 1920's.

I read up on that story. They put the owner on the street for over 4 hours as over 6 LEOs ransacked his entire house. Crazy.
Peanut the squirrel was investigated more than any Epstein client.

Can they do an access to information request to find out the name of the complainant? Because that person deserves to be online bullied to suicide (just sayin)
It's out there, I saw her pic and name last night somewhere...as well as the woman who made the decision to destroy it.

edit: I found it again. I'm not posting it in case it is incorrect and could lead to violent ramifications etc.

But both are trash individuals and have deleted their social media and are now trying to hide.

That’s sad. But the dude is an idiot for sharing that info. People can’t just start raising wild animals unless they have permits for it. Some asshole does it and starts spreading diseases and shit and people will be complaining the govt did nothing. Rules are rules.

Whilst I find the image funny, I don't find the situation funny and this is why people with no common sense and have power issues should not be given authority.

The part that gets me is that I could almost understand it if he was living in an apartment, or even in the suburbs, but they lived on a FARM and were running an animal rescue. The fact that they would seize a squirrel and a raccoon from a FARM is absurd.

Apparently word on the street is that(of course) a Karen complained.

I have the name but posting it probably violates some sorta rule.

american govt really likes making their people miserable through taxes and if you have something that makes you happy they will take it and destroy it.example is living of grid they hate it

Dude, NY has some of the strictest laws for dealing with wildlife. You should look into the laws regarding this

I’m going to copy and paste from a friend that does wildlife rehab.

I’ve got to say something because I keep seeing this squirrel situation pop up on my feed, and honestly, I’m a bit frustrated by all the attention it’s getting. I understand completely—no one wants to see any wild animal euthanized, and it’s always a tragedy. But the DEC was following the law because the squirrel bit someone, and New York has some of the toughest rehab regulations in the country. Just to rehabilitate rabies vector species in New York, rehabbers must have a wildlife rehab permit, an RVS permit, and they must be vaccinated for rabies. To put it into perspective, Texas doesn’t require anything but a rehab permit—though being vaccinated is certainly recommended, it’s not required. Some states won’t allow any rabies vector species to be rehabbed at all, even babies.

What’s important to understand here is that this individual was repeatedly told what he was doing was illegal, and he chose to ignore those warnings. Meanwhile, he was making so much money off of this squirrel that he could buy property in New York! That’s a huge amount of money, and it’s hard to ignore the legal and ethical issues around it. Plus, the squirrel itself was severely overweight from the kinds of foods it was being fed—waffles, Pop-Tarts, sugary cereals. Even if it was just “once in a while,” those aren’t healthy options for a squirrel, and it showed in its condition.

It’s frustrating to see so much sympathy going toward someone who broke the law for years, while legal rehabbers are out here doing things the right way and barely scraping by. I’m not saying this to ask for money myself, but I hope people can put their support toward rehabbers who genuinely need it. Most of us work out of our own homes, with no big donations or publicity, dedicating our lives to helping animals.

If you’re angry about wildlife issues, there are so many places that need your voice and support. Did you know that domestic cats kill billions of birds and small animals every year? Animals are also constantly at risk from things like cars, windows, power lines, pesticides, and pollution. Then there’s the huge impact of habitat loss due to construction and deforestation. All of these are preventable issues that put entire species at risk. If we put this same energy into supporting wildlife-friendly practices, advocating for safer environmental laws, or even backing local rehabbers, it could make a real difference.

Wildlife rehabbers are doing what we can within the bounds of the law to make a positive impact for animals that truly need help. So, if you’re feeling passionate about this, let’s direct that energy into helping wildlife in ways that can really change things for the better.

Fk that rabies ridden rodent

I got 18 shots from hyperdermic needles in my stomach to counteract rabies from a squirrel who bit my finger in 1965
Squirrels can all get it imo, just like Peanut

When I was a kid, I found a baby robin that fell out of its nest.

I took it in, put it in a box lined with blankets and a lamp.

I didn't have any worms to feed it, so I gave it bologna. After all, strips of bologna looks like worms.

It died later that day.

Meh. They don't have to act on every complaint they get. They chose to go fuck with this guy.

25 dogs are killed a day by cops in the US. They act on quite a lot of complaints.

We're talking about this because Peanut was famous. If he wasn't it doesn't make the news.

What do you think the over under is for how the number of innocent pets killed by the people who did this raid?
