Pay Ngannou $30 mill, not Jones

Ngannou vs Gane is the one I'd like to see but do you honestly think it'll get more viewers than a fight that was being marketed as Goat vs Monster with new skills?

No, but that wasn't my initial point. I merely said that I think Francis could be the bigger draw over Jon at this point

Oh. My bad. I was arguing the wrong thing haha. I was just saying Stipe vs Ngannou 2 is pretty much as good as it can get in terms of number of viewers. Anyways, ya I agree.

I agree, as far as mma fan interest from people like us, Francis and Stipe is only surpassed by franics Jones and maybe Gane. But our group of dedicated fans on this site and beyond really only makes up, 300k of a ppv buyrate; if that? The high numbers come from casuals and with sportscenter amping up the mma coverage the last year, I think Francis had coming out party so to speak. Anecdotally I had work colleagues and clients who only really know of conor (and GSP) bringing up "that francis guy" and being in a quasi awestruck impression.

So I wouldn't be surprised if a Lewis - Ngannou fight did 750+. Which, in my opinion would be the best case scenario because it could convince Jon that him vs francis could actually be huge and he could be more amicable to a McGregor type pay scale of 3-5 million guaranteed + tiered ppv points to get it around that 20 million range

I think the UFC just needs to build the fight a little more so they can make the big money off it.
The general population might not be on board yet with Francis so give him a chance to defend his title against Lewis. It’s a huge fight on its own. As co main put Jones vs Greg Hardy. Jones has never competed at hw so this gives him a chance to see what it’s like being in the cage with a big strong athletic guy. They could fill the rest of the card with girl fights and call it the most stacked card ever. Hype up that we will get a Jon vs Francis super fight if they both win.
I wouldn’t try putting the fight off much more than that though. It’s already a gamble that one of these guys loses and then you don’t get the same draw for the super fight as you can when they are both at the top. The division is just to volatile to try and build a fight up over a much longer time frame.
