Paulo H. Costa seems to be really liked by the UFC

Fighters are paid by popularity and google search trends. Costa most likely have been “searched” so many times bc of his physique. Shit, I know I did

He got 55K to show.

Compared to:
Platinum sensation Mike Perry - 40K to show
Next Anderson Uriah Hall - 48K to show
TUF winner Michael Chiesa - 37.5K to show
UFC employee Paul Felder - 46K to show

And he's 4-0 in the UFC.

Either Walid Ismail is such a great manager (I doubt that) or there are some upcoming plans for the chap.

What thinks you?
It's simple really - HE FUCKING BRINGS IT

Apart from Perry the rest are boring

Before being signed by the UFC? It's his 4th fight there.

The selective generosity from the UFC is quite baffling. They gave Sage the golden contract too. At one point, Sage was earning more than Rory McDonald and TJ Dillashaw.

The question is why? Sage and Costa would be happy for half the amount. UFC could get an amazing fighter for peanuts, but they over pay for certain guys, but give there vets the red headed step child treatment. (Or they could have amazing management like you said, but I doubt there THAT good. And the UFC are not going to negotiate with a no name fighter no matter how talented they are, they cut Yair over some petty twitter shit. There not push overs).

Sage is a different story. He's a legit, proven draw.
Fox events actually PEAKED on his fights, when he was not even in main , co-main events and was fighting absolutely unknown names.

That aint true. Sage was getting paid more than Rory and TJ at one point, but he had less of a social media following than either guy.

UFC seem selective. Seems like they invest in certain talent over others.

Well what was his first contract? Was it a 2 fight deal? 4 fights? Or did his team renegotiate?

This is google trends (US alone)... with that said, Mike Perry is really popular lol. Also Costa is twice as popular than paul felder

Expand the time span from the 1.1.2017, so we could see Costa's popularity before signing in UFC.

I don't know about his contract details, but it's VERY rare that someone gets only 3 fight contract, and usually contract extensions are getting known to public.

You have to look at google search trends more then social media followings. Some fighters are really popular without having a lot of followers on social media. That might be bc their social media presence is boring.

Sage doesn't even require google trends. He has actual TV ratings in his defense.

Duh, they needed him. Vitor just retired.

He's HANDSOME as fuck. Even chicks will tune in to watch his fights.

If you think that Felder, Hall and Chiesa do not BRING it and are boring, you simply don't watch fights.

So unfortunately it wont let me choose the exact timeframe but this is from the past 5 years (worldwide). It’s not perfect but a good way to negotiate contracts

he will soon be making a lot more if he keeps winning

dude looks like he's photoshopped and just walks forward throwing bombs

He actually covers ground like a cheetah when he moves in to strike.

Hmmm weird, actually I can choose "Custom Time Range" on Google Trends...

Now first of all, I do believe that USA Google search is more important to the UFC than Worldwide.
After all, most viewership and money comes from US.

Secondly, I'm not sure that I understand how it works, but "Paulo Costa" in quotation marks brings significantly less results.
I did it simply because "Paulo" and "Costa" are very common names. I could be wrong here though...

Anyway, honestly, I never heard about him before signing, even though he was on TUF (that I barely watched, I had to rewatch his episode).

He delivers, he is 4/4 with stoppages, also pay usually goes up with the weight class, not surprised.
