Paulo H. Costa seems to be really liked by the UFC

None of those I mentioned in OP are dry humpers.

I know, my point is Costa is just an old school Brawler, that will move forward and knock you out unless he is knocked out first. He reminds me of pride Wanderlei.

Costa is more aggressive than the list in the OP. I think UFC hopes he will become a star. They need exciting people

I can't believe how little money these fighters are making. No way I would get my face bashed by a guy like Costa on a regular basis for 50k a fight.
It is not that little if you think about it.
They fight 3 times per year, they get about 150k. Not too shabby for someone that young!

That's stupid.
Uriah Hall just lost to the next Anderson Silva last weekend. Matter of fact, he is 1-4 in his last 5... not exactly stellar or deserving of 100k per fight purse....
Mike Perry is 1-2 in his last 3 (was 2 losses before last weekend). Also not someone who accomplished anything yet.
Chiesa just lost his second straight. He is great against lower tier, but then loses to journeymen or better.

That's while Borrachinha just beat your "next Anderson" and ended the great career of Hendricks, an ex-champion, on MSG.

So of all the names you threw, Borrachinha is the ONLY ONE who is actually climbing to the top echelon of MMA.
He is also unbeaten at 12-0.
Let us not forget that some unbeaten guys at 12-0 would be getting title shots about now.
And it is not like UFC is taking any chances with him! He has been thoroughly tested by USADA and they are giving him guys progressively harder.

IMHO it is well deserving of his pay. Matter of fact, he should be paid more, since his next opponent should be guys ranked in the top 10.

Apparently you do not really understand how contracts work.
I'm aware of their current record, and I wrote what I wrote about each fighters for a reason. I wrote about their highest perceptions in their careers, which usually reflects the contract payment. And in most of the cases, when the new contract is offered, it is VERY RARELY offers less money than the previous one.

And, of course, the contract is not per one event.

Contracts DO NOT reflect JUST current state.

@Shaddows I also liked how you completely disregarded Felder in your rant.
Felder, unlike other fighters, is MORE important because he's an active color commentator, and if something happens to him, to find a replacement will be harder than rescheduling matchup.

The guy is really fucking good looking, has a dreamy body to boot, and could easily headline in Brazil since a lot of the old guard from there is getting old.

Plus, he fights the way the brass like, so it's easy to see why he's getting paid.
They should keep feeding him, don't throw him to the wolfs yet.

Well, when Perry got HIS contract, he sure was considered "old school brawler" not less than Costa.
His first 2 fights were very impressive, plus he's got a weird internet following almost immediately.

The Guy is worth every penny . Not always you get to see such a freak fighter

Funny how you completely disregard the fact that none of these fighters really panned out and are on losses to journeyman fighters.

You SHOULD know that 50K per fight is not peanuts. That's mid-tier fighters salary. And yes, some could perhaps get paid more, but again, you have no clue if they signed a new contract after a loss, and as such they get less money, with the promise that if they win, iot would get raised...
You don't take into account that?

I mean, take Hall for instance, which is the best guy (in name value) of the bunch you named.
He beat Mousasi... high hopes...

then he loses 3 straight! The only guy he beat as of late is ... Jotko
whothefook-1.jpg

So please explain why they should be making more than a guy who is unbeaten and could, on your own example, had JUST signed this new contract making 50k for the next 10 fights (for all you know)?

Besides, what is your point? he should not make that much??? why would you even care?

Well let's see...

In a key demographic
Good looking
Damn near flawless physique
Fan-friendly style
Finishes fights violently

Yeah, they want to keep him around.

Will be unfortunate then when he inevitbly gets popped by USADA.

Also... GAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY

He's HANDSOME as fuck. Even chicks will tune in to watch his fights.
He fights like a terminator. Constant stalking and winging bombs until his opponent folds under the pressure.
Non-stop action.

Either he knocks you out, or he gets knocked out. He's like a Justin Gaethje with better physical gifts(even if they're unnaturally enhanced by Brazilian fruit Juice).

Deserves everything he makes. He's got the looks to cross over into pop culture easily. Could play Superman if he didn't have the fucked up accent.
You seem to like him even more than the girls. Lot of closet gays on Sherdog when it comes to guys like Romero and Paulo Costa.

I didn't disregard as much as I didn't notice.
but it is funny you mention him like he is on fire!.
Didn't he just got beaten by Plat? That alone shows the level of fighters he is fighting against...
If he can't get past Plat (who makes 50k per fight, why would him deserve any more than 50 k himself?
I am sure his gig as color commentator is paid separately, so UFC is actually paying him a lot more than other fighters...

He deserves 55k a fight for his looks alone. Gtfo ts.

He got 55K to show.

Compared to:
Platinum sensation Mike Perry - 40K to show
Next Anderson Uriah Hall - 48K to show
TUF winner Michael Chiesa - 37.5K to show
UFC employee Paul Felder - 46K to show

And he's 4-0 in the UFC.

Either Walid Ismail is such a great manager (I doubt that) or there are some upcoming plans for the chap.

What thinks you?
Those fighters were all coming off loses I think?

Rory only got paid 59k to exchange that horrendous beating with Robbie Lawlor at UFC 189. We all know fighter pay isn't fair, but the UFC acutely knows its market and product, and they obviously see Costa as having the talent and marketability to carry not only the Brazilian market, but perhaps the mw division for the foreseeable future. Costa v Hall was the fight I was most looking forward to on the entire card and I suspect I wasn't alone, certainly not in Brazil.

Never heard a straight man sayanother man has a “dreamy body”.

This is the only new thing you said in this response. And this is total BS.
Contracts like you describe don't happen in UFC, and they don't happen outside of UFC either. Remember, we're talking about the world of grown ups.

As of others - as I mentioned, highest points of careers is what determines the salary. Experience can either raise it, or it won't, but it will never reduce it.
And they ARE NOT DETERMINED by last fights' outcome.
Therefore, Costa's value is relatively high in UFC's vision.

I am sure his gig as color commentator is paid separately, so UFC is actually paying him a lot more than other fighters...

Again, the only new thing you said.

Yes, here I actually partially agree. Of course, his salary as a commentator is separate.

However, it's VERY important for UFC to keep Felder satisfied with his contract, whether he lost or not.
The reason is simple: if, for example, he finishes his contract and prefers Bellator offer, what will happen with his commentating? They'll lose him as a commentator, that's obvious. And in that case, they'll need him in that position much more than he will need them.
Which makes it pretty logical that he'll get AT LEAST the same contract as udnefeated newcomer got.
