That scenario is predicated on Jones and whether he moves up to HW. If Adesanya has to move up again to fight Jones at HW you don't think he'll be stripped of the MW belt? At a minimum there'd be an interim belt but they should strip him if he decides his next fight after Jan isn't going to be at MW.
Whittaker said he'd move up to LHW to chase Adesanya if needs be. What he said was he wasn't fighting until March/April whilst admitting Adesanya could go up to LHW in the meantime. Selectively quoting someone makes you look like you've got an agenda or you're a moron, so I'm forced to ask which is it?
Well MW might no longer be in Adesanya's plans depending on how his tilt at the LHW belt goes so I'd imagine there'd need to be some semblance of balance restored to the MW division if that's the case. As I said I like the fight but from a matchmaking perspective it's a bit of an odd one given Whittaker's the clear and obvious number 1 contender.
