Costa's destruction was worse than almost anything we've seen in title fights. Diego Sanchez put on a better show than him, and he was expected to get slaughtered as well. Maia survived five rounds against Clownderson, to say nothing of Jon Jones and Kittenheart.

Costa was obliterated, and I would say the gap between him and Izzy must have been closer than Anthony Smith and Jon Jones. Or maybe Jones is that much of a steroid abuser that without him he is more on the level of Smith, idk.

I still think the hype was justified at the time and that he earned his title shot, but holy shit, that was as brutal as it gets. Izzy has probably a harder time picking his outfit in the morning than destroying Costa, it was one of the most one-sided title fight since Conor vs Eddy. Costa did nothing at all.

To be fair, Izzy vs Costa was one of the most one sided title defenses in history, made Costa look like he didn't belong in the UFC based on that performance.
I know Costa is better than that performance but it's definitely a huge wall to stop that hype train, plus sherdog is full of smooth brains, people were saying Mike Perry hits harder than HWs and were convinced he would be champ.

I don't think he'll come back. If he does, it won't look good. He's done as a serious fighter/ contender. I wish I was wrong but I've seen it played out too many times as a long time fan. Sucks because he was my favorite fighter.
