Pasadena.

Very long story short I have a free Saturday afternoon and night there on my own in September before a concert on Sunday. I've scoped out record and bookstores, I love bric a brac interesting type stores, what else would you suggest to get up to?

Being a lifelong fan of Depeche Mode I have a love for The Rosebowl but I'm mainly excited about hanging out with my girl friend more than seeing Oasis being I won't have seen her in over 2 years.

What else to do? I like weird stuff.
I’m sure there’s a lot there but I don’t go often. There’s a ton of good cafes and shops. descanso garden is really nice.

If you don’t mind driving further and live horror stuff burnank has a really cool block on magnolia with weird and charming little stores. Here’s a haunted house I tried to buy but it wasn’t for sale <{1-11}> IMG_2025-05-24-193006.jpeg

They have a gargoyle that’s protecting the store that gets candy as donations to keep it safe and my kids wanted to touch it but we were yelled at. Cool store on magnolia blvd in Burbank. They have a lot of horror themed stores IMG_2025-05-31-203624.jpegthis store has a sleepway camp display for fans of the angel of death

Not sure I'll be doing that on me todd haha. But what a hoot! That looks like brilliant fun.

I'm going to try and learn to drive again before September so I can travel myself. Scary as that may be.
Get a dash cam and a used car that won't upset you too much if it gets dinged.

Fucking socal drivers.

Oh and definitely pay extra for the uninsured motorist coverage. Almost guaranteed the person that hits you has no insurance.

If you do these things then driving in the LA area isn't too scary.

You have to check out the Huntington library if you’re in Pasadena . It’s not weird it’s breathtakingly beautiful.
I'm not doing JUST weird. My girl friend and her husband and I have time together on the Sunday before the concert. If I suggest it I think they'd be into breathtakingly beautiful.

It was only because I crashed my car so terribly and had long term Silicon Valley rush hour PTSD seeing so many smashes I saw right in front of my eyes I lost the ability to drive.

I'll do it, making husband drive me there and back isn't on. If we had public transport less than 2 hours away that would work but time to get back in the seat again.

You'll laugh, been looking at rental cars and I'm going with a Mitsubishi Mirage. Pretty similar to a Ford Fiesta. The less tech heavy and small car the better. The thought of even trying to park the X5 I know I'll come out in hives. $80 a day which isn't bad.

I might rent one for a day during the week to get used to it and get some motorway time in.

Just in case people might think you are joking, this is very sound advice. A few years ago friends from the east coast were visiting CA and driving down from SF to LA and got wacked, spinning them out on the 405 in the Sepulveda Pass area. Their car was f'ed and of course the car that hit them didn't stop. They said when they told the cop their story, he responded "Welcome to LA, I hope you paid for the insurance"

This is the reason I haven't driven in my home state in years, I used to see so many crashes driving to work and on the way home. When my company moved and I didn't have to get on the 101 every day and used local roads it was a godsend.

The 208 was as bad. Fuck I miss driving in Virginia, California's a trainwrck.

Get a map to the stars and find Heidi Fleiss.

Listen to the song California love, 2pac well tell you about Pasadena
