How are people trying to claim Topuria is ducking Paddy. Before the Chandler fight, no one considered Paddy elite. So Paddy has been “elite” for about 1 week. Topuria probably thought fighting Paddy was beneath him.

Paddy's is starting to prove to be legit, and the fight would sell, but Illia should be doing bigger & better things - i.e doing his job as a featherweight champ. The right way to do it would've been to properly clean out the division and move up for a straight title fight.

Ilia is incredibly talented and might fair well at LW, but he seems small for division, and I could see him struggling and losing some of his luster vs Paddy or some other LW contender.

It's 100% true, it will be like Conor where Ilia's power won't translate against the bigger more durable guys like Nate back in the day or Paddy now. Even jacked up Michael Chandler full power bombs didn't even make Paddy have a second thought of concern, one of the truly great things we've ever seen in MMA history.

And with Paddy's overwhelming physicality plus his skill in the ground game.....if Ilia couldn't get up from under Bryce Mitchell, he ain't fuckin going anywhere with Paddy crushing him from top position. We kind of saw Ilia exposed indirectly but seeing how much easier Jean Silva dealt with the grappling of Mitchell than Ilia did, who once he was ok the bottom was virtually helpless until the round ended.

Paddy is has definitely exceeded expectations & gotten better since his first UFC bout, however, im not so sure he could get/ hold Topuria down long enough before getting clipped big.

I'd probably go Topuria via KO, would love to see it though.
