Paddy is huge for 155 and way more skilled than anyone gives him credit for. I think Topuria gets reality checked by the bigger/stronger 155ers, and Paddy beats him.

I don't think Topuria is scared, but I think he recognizes that the Paddy fight is high risk low reward. If he loses, he gets embarrassed and goes back down to 145 defeated.

I'm not convinced Topuria could do that against Paddy, much less Islam. Fights are dynamic and you never know what position you'll be in. It's not like you can just say you're going to win by omoplata against a Top 10 guy and actually pull it off.

Imagine being Ilia and knocking out Volk and Max back to back, would you then be humble enough to say; "Hey UFC, don't give me the titleshot. I would like to prove myself against Paddy Pimblett or someone first. Don't give me the titleshot, i dont think I'm worthy of it yet because Islam and his team and his fans say I need to fight a contender first."

Think about every Ilia-soundbite and the level of confidence/arrogance/ego it reeks of and ask yourself if that guy really is even thinking about Paddy Pimblett when he's been promised by the UFC that his first fight at LW will be for a title.

To call it "ducking" in this context is pretty inaccurate. It's about having a guarantee from UFC and waiting for his promised titleshot.

Also, it's not that he's calling out Conor.
