Pacman vs JMM

What a fucking bullshit decision. I'm a big Pacman fan, and he's currently my favorite boxer, but there's no way he won that fight.

I had it 116-112 for Marquez. I had Pacman winning only 4 rounds, which were rounds 3, 4, 9, and 10. 10 was extremely close and could've easily gone to Marquez as well.

I'd rather see Pacman lose to a better fighter, than win a questionable split decision. Marquez earned my respect and I really hope he gets a rematch, even though it might not happen at this point.

For those thinking this fight was closer than you think, watch the damn fight again if you have to. This fight was one sided, and Marquez made Pacman look like complete shit. Pacquiao was clearly outboxed throughout the entire fight, and was made to look like a totally different fighter. Look at the reaction of the entire crowd, even the diehard filipino fans were just as surprised as Marquez and every other mexican in the crowd.

Does this have anything to do with Oscar De La Hoya promoting Pacquiao's last few fights???

Go back to the heavyweights with that bullshit. I had JMM winning it by a point but no way it was 116 to 112. I was pulling for Pac but i do think Marquez took a close decision.

And like people already said, Oscar promotes JMM.

and for those of you who are curious (although most of you don't care, lol) Filipino can be spelled either Filipino, Philipino or Pilipino. We're just weird like that.

I just like people to admit that the fight was close and could have went either way. Then, we can move on. If you had a clear cut, no questions asked winner on your card, you do not know how to score boxing.

Wow Pinoy Kabayan? :icon_chee
On topic i think it should be 114-113 either pac or marquez i dont agree w/ the 2 judges scoring it 115-112

IM mexican and yes i tought marquez won but i dont think he won cause hes mexican i think he out boxed him most of the fight yes pac-man did hit some very powerful shots but they where in my opinion not enough i had marquez by two points im a boxing fan and somewhat objective and im upset cause these fights build legends and its a shame that 10-20 yrs from now people will talk about the great fighter that manny pacquiao was not many people will remeber marquez

I'm a proud Americanized Filipino ("coconut"), lol.

But this is the correct answer. Could have gone either way. Either way, that knockdown made the difference and made this fight closer than it could have been,

my point is that the people most adamant for an either side win, is cause of nationality lol, which is cool you should root for your fighter.

im personally thinking jmm won, alot of sites are going with jmm, but the people's who's opinions are a bit more valid than others (like sportwriters) are all saying it was a really close fight that could've gone either way but had jmm edging it out.

That's definitely a shame. But you have to remember Manny is probably the most successful boxer in Philippine History. He's pretty much a national hero. Add to that the fact that he's just an exciting fighter to watch who's always pushing the pace and you have someone respected around the world. There are plenty of great fighters from Mexico and Mexicans and Mexican Americans have plenty of fighters they could be proud of.

On a side not, watch out for Nonito Donaire, The Filipino Flash. He's a Filipino American Champion that is starting to make an impact on the world stage.

Donaire... He was almost written off by the Filipino public before he cold cocked Vic. Everybody loves a winner.

Exactly.

I'm not either a Mexican nor a Phillipino nor i am a particular fan of both(meaning i dont prefer one or the other but consider them equally great) but JMM should've gotten the decision hands down.

I think it's amazing there are so many Pacman fans on these boards, as well as some video game boards (i visited Gametrailers and there was a thread with many Pacquiao supporters). I never would have thought there would be this many. It's awesome.

On a random note, I, too, am a Filipino.

Pinoy pride! :)

Yes, the Filipino public as in the people back in the Philippines. They pretty much abandoned Brian Violaria. I met the Nonito back when he was training in the US Olympic Trials. He's a Bay Area (where I grew up) boy so I'm definitely not a fare weather fan.

I was never a fan of Viloria and always like Nonito's attitude. He's gunning for the other World Champion in his weight class and even said he'd go to Japan and fight him on his home turf, lol.

let's hope that marquez complains that he was robbed and gets under pacmans skin. the rematch has to happen soon as jmm is 34.

funny story about viloria (whom i always thought sucked)

i was about to put 500 bucks on the omar dude he lost to that was a 12-1 underdog

f'ing tamtam talked me outta it. tam owes me like 6 grand

Pac won the fight by SD IMO, didn't JMM also hold on to the ropes with 7 seconds in the RD he got KD in??? Lampley mentioned that should of been a KD as well. Marquez did a great job of slowing down the fight and countering beautifully, but he doesn't have enough pop to slow down Pacman, Pac kept pushing the action and was landing the harder punches, Marquez was hurt several times after the KD.

I agree from RDs 5-8 JMM dominated with countering, but Pac would land 1 or 2 punches at a time that would hurt Marquez. You can see Marquez hesistate a lot from RD 9 on because he had to respect Pac's power, he couldn't be anymore agressive because he doesn't have the power to match pac in a slugfest. He didn't box enough is my point, when he decided to throw it cost him IMO!
