News Ozzy has passed.

No. He died in England, and assisted suicide isn't legal there, although it's under discussion by MP's.
 
Never a fan of his music but huge respect for the band, RIP indeed.

That's my guess. I looked into it after the first mention of it here. There were articles from the last few weeks, talking about a 2007 People's magazine interview where Sharon discussed it, and then in a 2023 podcast with Jack where he asked her about it, and she stated that it was still the plan. I know people will point things saying that he didn't die in Switzerland, but it's not like rich people can't have documents doctored.
 
This one hits hard. Sabbath are one of the first bands that I heard around 12/13 that put me onto the metal. On of best bands of all-time, period. Mind was blown to see Ozzy make an even bigger foray post-Sabbath, with some absolute HW tracks that will withstand the test of time.

Why would he need to have documents doctored?

I have no idea where or how he died, and everyone is obviously entitled to their privacy in times like these, but, if they already proudly talked about it then why keep it a dark secret now?

Maybe its true, maybe its not, but it would kinda be a last bad ass statement from a Metal God, I did my last concert and now I'm off to the rock n roll afterlife on my own terms

I am really bummed about this. A huge part of my music catalog to this day. I am a fan of a lot of his 90s stuff as well. Even his latest stuff had moments.

My Ozzy memories:
1. Buying Randy Rhoads Tribute in 1987 and wearing it out for a decade.
2. Going to my Jr Prom in 88/89 and playing Ultimate Sin album in the Limo while all the couples were making out lol.
3. Renting a PPV of an Ozzy concert, first time I saw Zakk Wylde. Had all my buddies over and one parent wouldn't allow my friend because she thought it was "devil music". 87/or 88.
4. Ozzfest 1997 at Giants Stadium. Saw Patera, Type O Negative, Marilyn Manson, Sabbath and Ozzy. To this day one of the best experiences ever.

And my best memory:
In 1886 Ozzy played Nassau Coliseum. Me and two friends all lied about sleeping over a friends house. We went to the show hoping to get tickets which we never did. We hung out in the parking lot with our bikes locked to a fence. Saw crazy shit--drugs, tits, impromptu cover bands, amazing experience. We walk over to the Mariott after which was in the same lot. We steal a complimentary bottle of wine off a table and get caught by security. Ozzy walks through with his crew and the place went nuts giving us a distraction. We ran out screaming "Ozzy rules!".

He was definitely very cool, a jolly fellow and bit Mike Tysons pigeons head off, leaving Mike traumatised and become world champion to vent his anger.
 
We're losing all our icons, and for Metal it doesn't get any bigger than Oz. I'm not too torn up about it though because the man lived a pretty great life and left behind a tremendous legacy for us to appreciate. I'll be listening to his music til my own day comes.

Dude stayed pretty relevant for 50+ years. He passed just a few weeks after his farewell show, if that isn't going out on your own terms I don't know what is. Total legend.

Of the OG metal lead singers Rob Halford is the only one left. Dio, Lemmy, and Ozzy are all gone now. I knew the day was going to come soon with Ozzy I just didn't it would be so soon after the final show
 
Man. Listening to the tributes and stories on the boneyard yesterday and today was tough. We lost a good one for sure.

Ian Gilliam of Deep Purple, Bernie Shaw of Uriah Heep, Klaus Meine of the Scorpions, and Phill Mogg of UFO are still alive, not as iconic as Ozzy, Rob, Lemmy, or Dio, but still among the metal founders.

Can't forget adjacent acts like Alice Cooper, Brian Johnson of AC/DC (not their original singer, but his previous band Geordie performed hard rock prior to his being in AC/DC), or Iggy Pop still being with us.
