Overrated movie you've ever seen?

Interstellar. I fucking hated it by the ten minute mark, when NASA dude happens across NASA who happen to require him and the power of love will blah blah blah

I probably need to revisit it because it does get so much praise and I was young when I viewed it but The Usual Suspects didn't keep my attention at all for some reason

Its not without flaws but he doesn't find NASA randomly, I forget exactly but isn't he following some kind of gravity distortion that comes from the black hole aliens or his future self deliberately directing him there?

I honestly don't recall. I don't suppose it was a get in and drive randomly thing, but can't say.

The movie's emotional heart was the father daughter relationship, and that felt forced. So did the central conflict.

But factoring in was that everyone I knew raved about how much I'd love it. I probably expected too much.

I love sci-fi but Arrival is more my thing. Slow moving and linear ... mostly

I enjoyed it reasonably well it didn't really add up to the sum of itsd parts for me, perhaps as you say because some of the central drama felt a bit forced or because it included rather too much Nolanish dum dum exposition, there are a handful of very well done scenes though IMHO.

All fast and furious movies.
Pulp fiction.
Eat pray love. Shittiest thing ever.

The Hurt Locker.

I didn't really get the praise. It felt like it was going for realism, but I'm pretty sure bomb squads aren't comprised of 1 expert doing the actual defusing, and 2 goons standing next to him ramping up the tension by constantly telling him to hurry up, and that there are dodgy Iraqi's looking at them funny. It was like half ultra realism, half lethal weapon.

It won six oscars including best picture and best director for James Cameron's ex-wife, and generated one of the biggest circle jerks movie critics have ever had, but I don't really remember anyone talking about it much since it came out. It wasn't a terrible movie, but it was completely overrated.

Totally agreed. And I naturally kind of like Handsome Mcwhatsisface, he's a decent actor.

You can I think argue with Nolan that to come degree he's having to pay the piper for the massive budgets he has. Its easy to say he should ask a bit more of his audience when it comes to not telegraphing his exposition and plotting but the reality is a large part of cinema goers aren't really willing to do that.

Predator.

I don't understand why it's considered a masterpiece here.

LOTR trilogy. Boring as fuck

Fury Road

I loved Avatar.... Now you guys are making me feel bad.

Godfather 1 and 2, Drive, Blade Runner, Fury Road, Black Panther, Se7en, Lost in Translation, Deer Hunter, Raging Bull, The Departed, Scot Pilgrim, Shaun of the Dead, Gladiator, TDK, Inception, The Prestige and pretty much any Nolan movie really. All of the above are very much overrated imo.
