Overrated movie you've ever seen?

I actually did not see that one, as I had grown accustomed to not liking his films.

I don't know what is in MK that would change your mind. It's more of the same Wes Anderson wank.

In fairness though, I don't like his style much either, but I like 'Life Aquatic" quite a bit, so maybe MK is that movie for some people.

Nope, not going through all of the replies, i know my jimmies are about to get rustled.

That said, Black freakin' hawk down. One of the most stupid pieces of shit movies i've seen to this day.

I wouldn't call it stupid per se, but it's certainly a bore, and one of the most overrated war films ever made.

Gladiator. Joaquin Phoenix was good but I was expecting a great epic.

I enjoyed Spartacus and Troy much more.

There Will Be Blood, Daniel Day-Lewis was phenomenal and absolutely oscar worthy, although the character seemed pretty similar to what he had previously portrayed in Gangs of New York. The rest of the cast didn't really do it for me and found the storyline a little too stoic for my liking. I was pretty damn baked when I watched so maybe I need to try it again.

Goes without saying but the newer Star Wars episodes, Harry Potter etc all that shit, trash.

A lot of fucking philistines in this thread.

Blair Witch Project wasn't remotely scary at all. It was downright boring. It was like watching an hour and a half of my parents argue about directions before GPS.

hahah. Haven't seen it since '99 but I remember it being all build up and then the end is kind of freaky in the sense that there's suspense as to "oh what's going to happen!" and then nothing really happens. I was never tempted to watch it again.

Blair Witch exists as one of those films that was more important in terms of context than it was actually enjoyable in executing in my opinion. The hype was unreal when it was out and the knowledge that a genre movie could make that much money based to a great extent on internet hype/clever marketing was relevant and then there were many imitators and descendants of the style.

The Witch has to be one of the worst movies that I have ever seen that has such great reviews on any movie review site (except mine). It isn't even close really, and I watched some dumb ass movies trying to find "The Best Horror Movie".

Not a close second, since The Witch sucks so much, but second none the less, is Get Out. Just kinda dumb, and after all the hype, I was just left in a "WTF did I just watch" state....

Apart from the visuals I don't really hear anyone rating Avatar particularly highly. We all went to see it because it was James Cameron using fancy new 3D technology.

Aside from a few fanboys everyone seemed to have pretty much the same reaction: It looked amazing but was otherwise very average.

Lord of the Rings

The Game. Holy shit I hate this movie with a passion.

Mad Max Fury Road. Was okay but didn't live up to it's hype by any means. I was expecting to be blown away ,instead I just got a bit of a wet fart in my face...

Mad Max 4. I have no idea why everyone thought this was special. Even Redlettermedia was gaga about it. "When the action MEANS something..." What did it mean? It meant the bad guys were chasing the good guys, nothing more. And they were all supremely motivated... for some reason. Why? In the Road Warrior, everyone was desperate. In Mad Max 4 the bad guys are basically billionaires.

I was shocked at how worthless and pointless it was. Just a laser light show on wheels.
