The country had a bunch of huge celebrations for the Bicentennial in 1976, it was played up as a huge deal all over the media, I was born that year and I still got a certificate from the President congratulating me for being a Bicentennial Baby, so its cool to see Cheeto try and keep that tradition going with a huge countrywide celebration for the 250th birthday

Its not just the UFC, he wants a whole slew of athletic competitions and other events full of razzle dazzle to celebrate the huge momentous occasion next year all Summer long

I, for one, am very much looking forward to it

I'm not bothered by this. I just think it will be a shit event. You can't put Jon on there vs. Tom bc there's a very real chance he loses. Imagine that; the showcase, marquis American fighter starched on the whitehouse lawn by a Brit.

And then what? Bring Conor back? No way they'd let an event as big as this hinge on him. He might pull out again via pic of a discolored pinky toe that may or may not be his.

Your biggest American names; Kayla, Poirier, Gaethje, Max, Suga....I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.

I think they can put together a really good card, but the notion that it would showcase the biggest and best American fighters is a losing proposition. We have no male champions and half of the names I just listed are on the cusp of retirement. They should just put a solid card together and not focus on country of origin. The USA is a very diverse place, and we're not really dominating in MMA like we used to.

Pretty surprised how many are just assuming this will happen. Dana lies about shit all the time and I don’t see this being any different. Remember when he said they were going to hold fights on the beach in Abu Dhabi? Turns out that was a complete lie and they had a full arena.

I can easily see this idea just turning into a Fight Night in DC that they put a little more effort in than normal.
